I did skip most Sonic games during that time, the next Sonic game I played after Shadow's game was Colours (I didn't have neither PS3 or 360), but I watched full playthroughs of 06 and Unleashed.
Anyway, my least favorite Sonic Voice Actor would have to be Roger Craig Smith. Every other Sonic Voice Actor we've had seem to have fit the characters in some way or another, but I don't find Roger to be very fitting. The only way Roger is fitting is if he's voicing Boom Sonic, the design of Boom Sonic makes Rogers Voice more fitting imo.
I think the only reason why Corkery got the part was for the fact that his father and sister (I think they were his father and sister) were voicing Espio and Charmy.
Out of the rest... I think I'll go with both previous Rouge actresses. Lani Minella was just... no, and Kathleen Delaney sounded way, WAY too damn old. Karen Strassman all the way, no contest, no shoes, no service.
I like that reference to the Unleashed Commercial you gave XD
But Lani wasn't that bad back then imo. I got more used to the Sonic X actor a little bit (she's still the worst no doubt, but I grew up with that VA so I got used to it). I really don't know how to feel about Karen Strassman... she doesn't sound bad, but I sometimes forget that that's supposed to be Rouge.
-cries myself to sleep while listening to Senpai Drummond's voice clips-
"You're gonna pay for this!"
Sonic in SA1 - Heroes, Knuckles in Sonic Shuffle, and Metal Sonic in Sonic Heroes.
I agree, tbh though, I wonder if that was just how still the characters were in SA1.
Like literally, imagine the line Sonic says as Tails is crashing with the SA1 Animations:
"Look out, you're gonna crash, AHHHHHH!"
Now imagine that exact scene with the SA2 Animations. Doesn't it sound/look a bit better?
Plus, throughout the games, Drummond gets a little better with the delivery of lines such as "Talk about low budget flights, no food or movies? I'm out of here!" or "You're gonna pay for this!"
Tbh, I think the absolute BEST VA cast was Heroes. With the exception of Tails, all the characters sounded about right to who they were voicing and with the fact that they've practiced in SA1 and SA2, they were alot better than they were in the previous games.
I think the story also helps. SA1 didn't have a bad story, but SA2 is more memorable. Plus, Ryan Drummond and David Humphrey (That's Shadow's VA in SA2 and Heroes) were friends in High School I believe so they had chemistry beforehand.
He voiced Sonic in the english track before Shadow the Hedgehog when Jason Griffeth took over, the latter of whom voiced him in the bad version of Sonic X, though he was better in the games because dialog wise, it was only the Sonic X dub's script that was bad; the actors were just following orders.
Of course Ryan wasn't entirely to blame as the english voice direction was garbage, and Ryan at least tried to give Sonic a good impression on par with both his successor and Junichi's at times.
Roger Smith doesn't have the same excuse as Ryan does because Roger makes Sonic sound like a 12 year old COD fan without the swearing and "your mum" jokes.

I mostly agree... SA2 does have "What have you done to Sonic? I will never forgive you for this." though, heh
