Thinking about getting it but is it political?
The fact it's made in Estonia is kind of a red flag. I'm not sure whether the game will be woke, communist, or nationalist tbh. The fact that it's breadtube's favorite game doesn't help.

So is it a good game in spite of the propaganda in the game? ty for responses

Weirdo far-lefties only think the game is pro-commie as they see mass murder, censorship, drug trafficking and extortion as good things lol.

There's as much far-right propaganda in the game as far-left.
As an example there's this huge muscular black man called Measurehead, who's surrounded by drooling women.
He mocks the protagonist for being so ugly and pathetic. You have the opportunity to internalise his Advanced Race Theory and pretty much learn the truth about this universes equivalent of Jewish people.

I think this game portrays these things in a really realistic way. The communist are intellectually disabled people who spew out the most retarded theories you've ever heard, the fascist guy is some weirdo loser who lives on his own and collects weird racist ornaments. Homosexuals dress well, take drugs and bum in hotels. The union are violent mobsters who specifically hire the big black guy, in spite of him being a demented racial supremacist. The liberal corporations aren't afraid of killing off some backwards foreigners to make profit. Truckers are racist.
It's all very close to many of my IRL interactions with people.

Jesus... someone was clearly triggered by this game. I think if this game is in anyway close to your IRL interactions with people, that speaks far more about your own confrontational personality and closed mindset than it does the themes of the game.
Unless that comment was satire, in which case I absolutely just took the bait :turnerfacepalm:

What do you mean?
I'm really open minded and I'm non-confrontational unless someone is being really out of order.

This one is definitely worth playing, but it may be difficult to understand the second floor of this game. For example at beggining we see human strike and trucks with apples and sportsuits - like apple of discord and suits for provocateurs. And with progress all this allegory and symbolism grows and it's hard to explain.
I know in real life this murder looked like in this video, as we know Akella missed.

reactionary conservative doesn't like the idea of a game poking fun at his political ideology, even though the game dunks on every political ideology just the same

Don't buy it. I've heard the developers were scammed by the publisher and received nothing from making it.

What? No the devs, artists and other's from the OG collective sold the IP, then the person who bought it tried to use company funds as part of the purchase, (honestly that's pretty lolz), and in the commotion 3 were fired and 3 resigned.

Meaning that 6 people no longer receive wages from the time they stopped working at the company. This doesn't effect the money they previously earned from selling the IP, wages already earned or their status as a shareholder.

Well, thanks for clearing that all up and letting us know what happened.

It's hard to tell for sure as the trial is still ongoing. Basically there're two sides of the story. One accusing another for the hostile takeover. Another accusing the other for the (sexual) misconduct. But already at this point it is well-known that there was indeed a hostile takeover and that the original creators were robbed of their IP (many documentaries and articles tell about that). For a while there was a doubt about the original team, if they were fired for a reason or not. Mostly because of some allegations made in the PMG documentary. But as after their departure the allegations about the sexual misconduct continue to hit the news, more people were fired and the cancellation of the sequel was announced. It made pretty much clear that the OG team were telling the truth.

They weren't robbed of their IP, they sold shares of their company that controls the IP.
The majority of their shares were purchased by Margus Linnamäe, who sold these shares to Ilmar Kompus in 2021.

The legal issue was that Kompus sold himself 4 pieces of DE2 concept art for £1, which he resold to ZaUm for €4.8 million, money he used to fund his purchase of the company shares.

Near the end of 2022 Kompus agreed to divest his shares, repay the €4.8m, and pay the legal fees and that lawsuit was dropped.
Kurvitz has made a statement saying their employment lawsuit was dismissed.

What trial are you even on about?

It's a very political game but it doesn't really promote a particular ideology as "the correct one". The game tends to make fun of whatever ideology you lean into and some people get triggered by that.
Centipede May 16, 2024 @ 9:30am
I only played it partially. So far it seems like an interesting game in spite of its political leanings.

All sides are portrayed with flaws, although it feels more like the ideologies the authors oppose are criticized as flawed in and of themselves whereas the one they like are criticized for the flawed people who don't follow them properly.

I wouldn't worry too much about the politics though because they are caricatural and cartoonish, their exponents are extreme strawmen and the player character's responses lack nuance. You hear some over the top political takes and can answer neutral, or be pro or against but taking it to a cartoony extreme, with little in-between. Nonetheless, the character dialogues apart from the political takes are competent, even the strawmen are otherwise humanised and presented with some sympathy.

The interesting parts of the game are more related to the lyrical inner dialogue and the portrayal of DnD-like stats as facets of the player character's psyche.

It's so weird when people get triggered over games like this, especially when the content is satire and makes fun of everything while still pulling off some pretty deep social commentary despite it all. I'm conservative, don't like communism, or many isms really, and got into many of internet fights about it, but you've got to separate yourself for a bit to enjoy stuff made by other people. They don't agree with me? So what.. is their game fun? Is the writing good? Is it worth your time? If the answer is yes, then go for it. There's plenty of hamfisted bad politics crammed into our media these days. This time it was done right. Separate yourself from the fantasy you're playing and it'll reward you. Not just here.. in life in general.
