I didn't even have to start Steam in offline mode. I put all the files in an unrelated directory and used the "Add a non-Steam game" to launch it. Hopefully I won't have problems down the road but it seems good so far. No achievements, but that's fine. Thanks again, ridiculous that we have to go to these lengths.
This, 1000x. I can't believe they A) Refuse to implement such a simple, basic ability that sooo many indie games utilize, and B) Still have said not a single word about such a massive change or why it was done. Definitely makes me hesitant to purchase any products from this co/developer in the future, which is sad cuz I really liked em when I first found out about the game
Ah nice! And it truly is ridiculous, yes. Bummer deal you don't have achievements, but at least you don't have to turn off wifi or firewall Steam to load this game. Always tradeons and tradeoffs to everything
The complete silence is just bizarre. We are forced to guess what their motivations could be.
(1) Artistic / "George Lucas" disease. The devs worked hard on the Final Cut, are understandably proud of what they did, and generally have been sitting around sniffing their own farts and decided that this is the "real" version and no one should play the original.
(2) Financial. Pure speculation, maybe they can somehow avoid paying some people who worked on the original by cutting old voices / assets? Also, they want to sell copies to consoles and don't want the console version to be perceived as a different experience vs PC.
(3) Personal. Devs are mad at people who worked on the old game for some reason.
(4) Just haven't gotten around to creating out a separate Steam entry for "Disco Classic". Doubt this is it though, as they would have just said it was coming soon.
They know any of 1,2,3 would not make them look great so, say nothing. That's all I got.

Newp, first thing I tried. Steam disabled/broke the console depot download function in 2019 or 2020.
Btw, thanks for linking everyone to a guide that has a furry on it...? wut, why
David - Yeah, I meant to create an actual guide with pics and/or a video step-by-step, but I haven't made the time yet. Maybe the day after i get my second shot haha
Yeah you won't need everything that was downloaded, the other guide goes over this but only briefly. I may have been too concise, you're right, number 2 was a helpful tip :) As for 3, I'm able to launch it from my Steam Library - What happened when you tried to launch it from within steam?
