ive talked the washing lady and now i have to search the coast, ive searched everywhere, done the church side quest. cant find her

Wow I am so stuck here... I dont have any ends to continue. The old lady is "holding something" it says to check her home ... huh?

I found the two buildings, the Feld Engineering building and the other highly suspicious one south west of it. Stared at murals and passed the one check for the execution. NOTHING.

What am I missing?!

Not the shack with the little girl in it, but the other one, behind her. You may need to ask the old woman about Ruby, first. Then, when staring at the mural, where the man and his son are standing, you *have to* succeed at your Shivers checks there - so adjust clothing and whatnot accordingly.

Is it possible to get stuck forever here? I can't attempt another skill check until I upgrade Shivers, after all, and I'm running out of side quests to level up with. Oof...any advice appreciated.

It probably is possible to get stuck, since there are a finite number of ways to be able to retry that check as far as I'm aware and each attempt can fail.

Aside from side quests, if you haven't yet internalized "The Insulindian Miracle", doing so will unlock all locked white checks, but that's just a one-time thing and it won't make the check any easier.

It is. If developers really want to keep this very linear, they should at least change the modifiers so it's easier to pass the check for players with low physique

My thoughts exactly! For me storyline started to irritate me at convincing Titus to give information on Ruby. Finding Ruby and Shiver check discouraged me to play further and be fully engaged.

The floorboards and shiver check weren't as bad (as I had good shiver ratings but low health) when health became a factor I was frustrated but its not game breaking. yes it was the most annoying part of the game but slides into some of the best parts of the game.

If the entire game hinges on those floorboards for other people though.. they should look into **addressing** it ASAP

is the only way to continue the quest require you to pass the shivers check on the mural where there's a father and son standing? or am I missing something else?

because I also can't pass the check with 4 + 2 shivers, it only went up as high as 8%...

or am I understanding this thread wrong?

Yes you have to pass the shivers check. You can fo a lot of quests that will unlock the white check again and giving new bonuses. Max bonus is +18 from the quests, but you'd better try again every time you end a quest, just in case you get unlucky at 97%. There are also some thoughts that increase your chances, but don't unlock the white checks, and thoughts that unlock the white check without increasing your chances. And you can drink alcohol to help too.
