New update slowing my game
So with this new update that gave us the three new subs and monsters i cant seem to run barotrauma as smoothly anymore. I seem to have run from a stable 30-40ish fps down to a stuttering and uncomfortable 10 fps, its so bad to the point that inputting commands such as walking, equipping items, and fixing things seem impossible as i need to press and hold down on the key needed for quite awhile before i can interact with things rather than just simply clicking and using said items or fixing said things on the sub. In the alien ruin overhual update my system was running perfectly fine until this new update a few days ago.

Hi everyone and sorry for the inconvenience! I've merged a few of the newer threads on low performance since the latest update to respond to everyone in one place.

Since we have seen a number of reports like this in recent days, there indeed appears to be a performance issue somewhere that we've unfortunately not managed to diagnose yet. If you would like to help us, sending us diagnostic data as screenshots could be useful – please read more in this quote from my colleague:

Hello and sorry to hear about the issues your having with the game. :/

We have gotten some reports about decreased performance after the latest update (even though weirdly many players are reporting drastically improved performance), so it's most likely not an issue with your system. Unfortunately we haven't managed to pinpoint what's causing the performance problems yet.

Something that could give us more clues is if you enabled the in-game performance statistics and sent us a screenshot of what you see when the FPS drops. You can enable it by opening the debug console by pressing F3, and entering the command "showperf" in the console.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience, I hope we can get this fixed asap!

You can send us those screens most easily as links posted in replies here, or you can send them as bug reports through GitHub, https://github.com/Regalis11/Barotrauma/issues. Once more, sorry for the trouble and thank you in advance for any extra information you can provide.

Same here, I thought it was the mods but since more and more people have been talking about this "lag" which consists of the character doing things extremely delayed, I think this is a issue with the new or maybe the latest updates. I can also note that the lag usually happens when the sub gets sunk (aka. When you have a ton of hull breaches) and I can speculate that its because of the game which really REALLY inefficiently calculates this "sinking" of the ship that causes the immense lag. (at least to me)

Mac player here, just minutes ago my game crashed (no crashlog tho) after a Thalamus encounter on a random multiplayer mission at 40% difficulty. Its the first time I ever saw such an FPS drop since the reports came through.
No mods, purely vanilla, 5 players including me, regular unmodded Humpback.
FPS dropped from regular 60-90 to 2-4 in split second, by the sound I presume when Thalamus shot its tentacle.
I could hear all the sounds in-game in real time, including comms, chat, Cells etc.
Might be linked to this forum as well.

Me too, my connection it's perfect atm (i've installed a new ultragood one) and the game ran perfectly in the last update. So i don't know what to do(the performance fix lua mod, practically doesn't worked at all).

The game used to be playable, ran just fine on my GTX 970 with a stable enough 30-40 fps. With the new update however, fighting pirate ships is basically impossible, going into an outpost also makes the game unplayable. My mouse jitters across the screen, gets stuck in places, I cant move and when I do after holding the key down for a while, i cant stop moving. Pausing the game is a nightmare too, as i have to press the esc key about 20 times before it works. Hopefully this gets fixed ASAP, as it has made the game quite literally unplayable.

No it's been fixed for me atleast for over 2 weeks now. Although I haven't been playing consistently, just hopped on to see if it was good or not.

GPU is not the issue, the issue with Barotrauma is CPU wise.

Yeah I know, because processor has to process all the A.I. among other things, and while I do have a weak CPU (AMD A8-6600K), It used to be able to run the game just fine.

I like when I tell people my FPS is 60-50 when theirs is 5-2 and they tell me "it's good to be rich"... meanwhile me with a Low-Mid tier setup still using DDR3 lmao

Yeah lol - don't need to be rich to run a 2D game well.
