Can we talk about things spawning behind impassable walls?
It seems that objectives routinely spawn behind walls, which may or may not have openings. I can understand if the openings are too small for a sub, thus forcing the crew to go outside. But we just spent a good 30-40 minutes crawling up and down a wall in a "Terminate a Swarm" mission, where all the targets were on the other side with no visible openings within 300m of the objective in either direction. My understanding is that these background walls are indestructible (unless this was changes recently).

So, my question is: what the hell? How is one supposed to complete the objectives that you can't get to?

(By the way, totally loving the game.)

Sometimes you might have to scavenge the whole map for a hole in the wall wide enough to fit through, it can get annoying. You can also send a experienced person to go "full rambo" on them.
Anyway yeah happens, sometimes it's sonar messing up, sometimes they really spawn behind a wall, you have to search for a way to get to them most of the time.

Yeah happened to me as well tho I resolved it by using Piercing Ammunition since they go through walls

Once had an artifact spawn in a closed off area behind a wall. Unless they add the option to blow holes through the ice, an interesting idea actually, some missions just cant be completed

Hi! There should always be a way around the level wall, although it can sometimes be very hard to find it. That's to say, technically, mission objectives should never become inaccessible, but as difficult placements seem to occur more frequently than anyone would like, we'll definitely be taking a look at this when we get to work on improving level generation – this will be done later as part of the environment and biome overhaul. So short version: there's little we can say right now to help with this, but I wanted to write back to say this is on our radar!

I think some of this could be alleviated with the inclusion of mining equipment. It'd be nice to whack a captain or a mudraptor with a pickax or take a high performance laser drill powered on batteries, fuel rods, alien power cells, etc and start digging directly through the ice/ruins.

Pickax would allow for mineral collection, hull/door damage, etc. but takes longer than a plasma cutter. Could also make a nice makeshift melee weapon.

Laser drill could be used as a last resort melee weapon, but allow players to drill through ice sheets to create their own entrance. Just a few small ideas, could potentially be implemented in a mod or the full game. Makes me wonder how those mineral mining outposts dig into the rock and ice sheets.

I agree rather than mess with level generation it would be more interesting to add another game mechanic by mining a path through the ice. Kind of like the crew's of old ice breaker ships had to do if they got stuck in the arctic. It doesn't have to be wide, just enough to swim through.

Heck let us blow holes in the ice walls using explosives or railguns. No need to add underwater drills or high pressure lasers.

Could balance cutting through ice with it eventually regenerating. Creating more situations for crew to get stranded and drown!

Since we're here, I was told that level generation adapted the size of the corridors to the size of the submarine.
Can someone confirm that ?
