Why there is so much fps drop?
So, can someone help me please? I've playing the game for the last week, but for the last few days it is veeery boring to play because of this fps drops. I don't know if it is related to the new nvidia gpu driver, but omg, what is happening? Check below the video that I've made, pleaseee I need help.

Happens to everyone. Even top of the line hardware. Game maxes CPU usage for some reason no matter your CPU and your system is middle of the road by today's standards. Even systems with 1080ti+8800k stutter and dip.

Nothing anyone can do, you either play with stutters or don't play it I guess.

Origins and Odyssey are both heavily bloated with double DRM which absolutely hammers your CPU.
It's highly anti consumer, will shorten the life of SSDs a as well as (potentially) damaging your CPU and GPU.
Origins was cracked months ago, the only "logic" behind keeping the DRM in is that it bloats game, slows it down and keeps it at "console level" fps (or above that if you have a really good PC), with other games Ubisoft have publicly said that they've put frame limits in place "to stop all of those debates" and have intentionally lowered the graphics of at least one game (WatchDogs; the graphics could be returned to their amazing E3 levels by editing .ini files) and employees have also admitted to lowering the quality, or slowing games so (PCs of much higher performance) keep up with current gen consoles.

TL;DR there is no way to get the game to run better other than lowering settings so it looks worse than it's console counterparts, or you could start asking Ubisoft to remove Denuvo and VMSecure on their games post "crack day", as after then their DRM is nothing but bloatware and double encrypting a game (like origins) will take it's toll on game performance and possibly your Pc's hardware.

It's very hard to find any evidence showing that denuvo (and/or VMSecure) damage your PC but running your CPU and GPU at 100 percent at all times was never intended and thus these games should be approached with caution, especially when you overclock your PC and your cooling system can't handle a CPU at full load on all cores for extended time.

This is actually very disgusting from a company so big like Ubisoft...but c'mon, let's be honest, it's not a surprise. I think I won't have hardware issues because my cpu and gpu don't go over 70ºC.....but they made a stupid decision for sure.

Thank you guys for your answers.

If that was the case the user above you wouldnt have any issues tho, and he is still having those issues.

Sorry you didnt get a day with helpful answers. These guys in particular didn't give any truthful ones.

If the game is stuttering it means some settings need to do changed. The game isn't optimized very well but the issues are fixable.

I can't find the topic I used to change things myself, but just in case I did write it down so here's the quote:

it's very difficult because the only true answer I can give is 30 FPS. Trying to convince PC gamers that the game actually looks and plays fantastic on 30 FPS is very difficult since most PC gamers have had very bad luck making 30 FPS look smooth on PC versus the consoles. It all comes down to frame times (not frame rate) and the reason 30 FPS looks good on consoles is because the frame times are so consistent (motion blur masks the rest). If you can normalize your 30 FPS frame times on PC, it'll usually look even smoother than the consoles.

In the Nvidia Control Panel:

Set max pre-rendered frames to 1
Set v-sync to half refresh rate (make sure your screen refresh rate is 60hz)
Triple buffering can be ignored (only applies to OpenGL games)
Prefer maximum performance

Now download RTSS (RivaTuner Statistics Server) and create a profile for AC:O. Navigate to the RTSS install directory and edit your ACO profile to include the following parameters:

[Framerate]
Limit=29970
LimitDenominator=1000

Adjust "Limit" as needed. You want it between 0.07 - 0.15 FPS below half of the monitor's *actual* refresh rate (it's never actually going to be exactly 60hz; check your manual for the real value or test at https://www.vsynctester.com/index.html).

In game, set the frame rate to unlimited. If you've got a GTX 1060 or better, go ahead and set all graphic settings to Ultra. If you've got a 1080p or 1440p monitor, set your resolution to monitor's native resolution and adjust the resolution modifier to whatever your card can handle (my 11 GB GTX 1080ti can handle 2560x1440 w/ 160% resolution modifier; effectively making it 4096x2304 [4k+ HD]). If you do everything correctly you should end up with a 30 FPS result that is actually smoother than the consoles. The benchmark will have a bunch of red in it but that's OK (the game doesn't know you've got half-refresh rate vsync enabled, so you'll get a red benchmark).

With RTSS you can also use Scanline Sync, and if your specs are good enough (and you dont mind dropping some settings to high or such) use 60 FPS (same as framerate instead of half) instead of 30 FPS, tho with your card OP, I'd advise going for 30.

In addition I also changed the following: (Windows 10 only, if you have lots of RAM so perfect for you as you have 16gb)

Yes. Windows 10 compresses memory if needed BEFORE using the pagefile.. this was added for just windows 10, and it can gobble a lot of CPU use

microsoft did this because it's faster than using the pagefile. The problem is that it takes up a lot of cpu resources, and on high cpu demanding games it can cause a LOT of stuttering and high cpu use

If you have 16GB of RAM or more, you really don't need this feature. You can run task manager and go to the performance tab to see how much of your memory is being compressed :)

to disable memory compression
start powershell as admin and use this:
Disable-MMAgent -mc

to re enable it:
start powershell as admin and use this:
Enable-MMAgent -mc

This last option you will want to save as a file you got later down the line in case you want to revert it. (dont think itll be needed but good to have just in case)

Just ran benchmark on ultra settings (V-sync off) and 2K, game usually runs fairly smoothly around 60 FPS but from time to time there are HUGE FPS drops that correspond to hugh CPU and GPU load (see picture below)

https://1drv.ms/u/s!AqZ-PD0fPDDBmJVq8AD1d1xth3p8Lg

any idea why that is? is there way to resolve it? similar tests with Shadow of War or GTA V are without any drops (but e.g. Mafia 1 even without remastered mod has even bigger FPS drops :D)

I get FPS drops around places like Alexandria. Anywhere that there are lots of buildings and people.

It might be down to CPU load on one core. However I found that not the case.

GPU was not maxing either.

The FPS drops to me are unexplained.

I managed to mitigate the FPS drops by moving ma Origins game from HDD to SSD. Apart from getting much better loading times the FPS drops are almost gone (the biggest ones) and I'm in range from 55-60 FPS (with 60 cap). Will test this more this weekend.

2020 and the frame drops are as bad as ever! I've got an i7 9700K and 2080 Super, plus the game is installed on fast M.2 drive and still it pauses for over a second at random places! I've only got 16 MB of memory, so that can come into play. Those drops definitely look like the game is loading something, but they are in very bad places if it's that.

Jusst check this site:

The one with the first chapter with the high dpi settings helped me on my issue.
