I finally fixed my stuttering on Windows 10
I know this is a recurring topic, but I finally found a solution that worked for me to fix micro-stuttering in AC Origins. I couldn't really find a mention of this method here, so I'm sharing it.

First, my specs:
Core I7 6700k
GTX 1060
16 GB RAM
Windows 10 Fall Update

Believe me, I went through all the optimization guides I could find. I tweaked every setting, both in game and in the Nvidia control panel, but couldn't get rid of the stuttering totally. It was not "heavy", but I'm very sensitive to micro-stutter, and in some areas (like Alexandria), it was pretty painful.

It seems to be linked to Windows Fall Update, and its memory management. To optimize RAM usage, Windows keeps data in a "Standby List". But it seems there is an issue with the Fall Update, which keeps too much data in that standby list, preventing software to have access to your whole memory. For some sensitive, memory-heavy software like AC Origins, it can cause issues. There is a way to manually empty this standby list though. You actually have two options:

Either download this utility from Microsoft: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/rammap . Launch it, and you'll see how much RAM is wasted because of this standby list management (the dark grey bar). For me, it's always from 3 to 6 GB. Click the "Empty" menu, then "Empty Standby List". Then launch AC Origins, and see if it fixes your stuttering. It really did for me, and now I have a butter-smooth experience.

The other option is to download this small utility, that does the same thing, but automatically (don't forget to launch it as administrator) : https://wj32.org/wp/software/empty-standby-list/

I suppose the effects will vary (for example, if you have 32 GB of RAM, it may have less impact). But with 16 GB, it definitely changed the game!

Just do this before every launch of the game, and that's it. Hope it will help.

Edit: A new automated tool is available here: https://www.wagnardsoft.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1256

As for me, I fixed stuttering by making sure neither CPU nor GPU gets maxed out by limiting FPS with RivaTuner. Disabling HPET in both BIOS and Windows also seems to have improved things despite recommendations on that thread.

Is RamMap still working for everyone after the new Win10 update? Got a new update today, but now RamMap isn't loading the usage bars. It's all blank.

use Windows 10 game mode instead. It optimizes your system to deveote as much resources to the game as possible while you're running it.

Not only that, but Windows has exceptional memory management already. There isn't any reason to clean or clear memory unless you have a memory leak in a program or process. Generally it's best to leave it to the operating system.

good

Yes, you have to run it before launching AC:O, this is the best way to get maximum memory for the game.

@jbn56343: I agree we should normally let the OS handle those things, especially since it is cumbersome to do it manually before launching the game. But it seems to be an issue with the OS, and for now, this is the only solution I found to solve it.

sorry man i dont think you're solving anything, sorry. But who knows I guess.

You are not alone. Windows ver 1803 doesn't run Rammap as intended. Hopefully an update to Rammap will be coming soon. However as someone online pointed out, pressing empty standby still works. It just doesn't show you the usage anymore.

'Hitting the "Empty - Standby List" still works in RamMap. To check open Resource Monitor (use search to find on your PC) and click on the Memory tab. At the bottom the memory use will show. Checking the before and after you will see that RamMap will reset the standby memory back to zero. The new Windows update has caused RamMap to no longer display the memory.'

Fixed my issues by dissabling SLI in NVIDIA control panel and dedicating Physx to card 2. Prior to this the stuttering made the game unplayable.

Thanks. Glad i'm not alone. I did notice it still worked when you click it, but I like seeing the actual display.

Is that quote from their website? I'm hoping they know about this already.
