Am I the only one that hates the combat system?
I mean seriously, all the game does to me is stunlock crap. The dodge never dodges far enough and no matter what shield I use there are tons of times the block/parry does nothing.

People play games differently. It's a single player game so they can play it however they want. It's all good.

I find that beyond the boss fights, you can avoid most of the combat scenarios. Even the assassination of your targets doesn't usually turn into a big fight if you avoid it, the target is just a particularly strong dude in an area and you can kill him however you want. I actually killed the first guy by accident when I was in the middle of rescuing the priests, it was pretty funny

True true, and it's not like I didn't have fun being a human lawnmower in previous games. It just got boring to me after a while since it had the exact same combat system for about a thousand games in a row (as in, press one button and win), so I welcome the change here

Parry seems a bit unreliable... it's great when it works, but if you miss you get wrecked.

I just feel really awkward when I parry and the enemy misses their attack :awkward:

I like it, just simply approach enemy, press and hold attack, bayek will do the combo.

Or dash to enemy's back, press and hold attack.

Or break defence, press and hold attack.
Still about 10 times more complex than any previous AC game

is versatility + more freedom of movement.

i've gotten extremely bored of the AC1 sword fight, AC2 free flow, AC3 fist fight, AC4 guard break - stab.

The witcher style combat suits well on this egypt open world.

You need to git gud son. The combat is by far my favorite in this game. Absolutely addicted with it.

No. I never said it was difficult. I only die from careless leaps from great heights. The combat is mediocre. Which is just fine considering how good the rest of the game.

You have a good point. Block works about 15% of the time, so useless. Parry works about 10% of the time, so even more useless. Combat is clunky as ♥♥♥♥. half the time both me and the enemy are attacking in the wrong direction lol. swinging at the mosquitos an ♥♥♥♥.

It could literally take me 5 minutes to kill one enemy, dodging, blocking, running, atcking once then running away again to setup the next atack. i thought i was a badass assassin not a weak little ♥♥♥♥♥ who cant kill one enemy lol.

where are the cool counter attacks from AC2 that enabled a cinimatic kill. now it just gives you a cinimatic at the very end of combat, which is not interactive at all. i started to fall asleep... boring.
Also in AC2 you could disarm your opponent and use his weapon against him. it was fun, interactive, and different every time. why would you take that away???????

I constantly find myself just spamming quick attck. that's all you have to do. forget block. forget parry. forget dodge. forget heavy atck. forget the bow. forget every fricken thing exept the damn quick atck. just spam the ♥♥♥♥ out of it and you win every fight. boring... zzzzzzzzzz falling asleep just talking about it. zzzzzzz gona take a nap all this AC Origins is putting me to sleep. zzzz

the dodge doesn't dodge far enough to avoid being hit.

You need to time them and dodge in the right direction sometimes depending on the weapon being swung at you.

Eh, no worse than just spamming the counter button to kill hordes of enemies that all attack you one at a time for some reason.

I prefer this combat to previous AC games.

It could use a bit more polish, but it's a good start.

All of your complaints can easily be solved with an enthusiastic “git gud scrub”. And please, don’t pretend the combat was ever interesting in AC before. You pressed counter one time and almost every enemy in the game died instantly. The super duper epic boss fights made you press counter three times, so interactive

It's a bit simplistic but far better than past games. And there's a great base set of mechanics to build on.

I treated AC:Origins as a stealth game, only relying to actual combat when i have to and had a lot of fun with it. Granted, not everyone likes to spend hours clearing a citadel without being seen once, but it's what i like and i think the game did a fantastic job.

Aside from that, most enemies are really easy to kill by just spamming attacks, but the elephants and harder arena bosses are an actual challenge and while i never got to beat all the bosses (and don't really care, anyway) i had a fair amount of good fights.

Only thing i would have wished for is a better finale. The last few moments weren't "epic" enough for me, though for an AC fan it must have been great to see how everything began.

Yes the fighting system isn't a step up, not sure why anyone would say its more advanced. I used to be able to disarm my opponent and kill him and all his friends with that weapon. Skill and timing used to matter now just mashing dodge and attack is all you have to do. I like the game but the fighting is boring and AI is laughable.

What the ♥♥♥♥ are you talking about? The old combat system was spamming the counter button until you won and occasionally using a human shield.
