Worth picking up if you're new to the entire AC series?

Seeing that this is the 10th installment in the series, how much of the lore/story would a new player be missing out on if he/she hasn't played any of the previous games?

Toooooo much honestly, you will be lost on the main story, but as for the "egyptian story" well its all fresh and not connected much with only easter eggs to the other games, anyways yeah bayek the person you play has a story from the start to finish. Now when you are outside the animus, thats where you will be sorta lost, as well time has passed since our first adam/desmond died. but thats all explained in the other games prior to this. |

Main story with desmond and the real world- YOU would be pretty much clueless
Animus and playing Bayek- super fun and interesting story to get into.
only con is you wont know the main story in the real world.

Truth be told, the present day story doesn't make much sense in the first place, never did. So go for it!

Gotta disagree, it made all the sense , they are looking for relics of the first civilazation . Only the decendants of adam are connected to these relics at all time. The current form of adam in present time would be desmond, so they go and "abduct/hire" him and there goes your first intro to the "real world story".

AC1, 2, Brotherhood(game becoming huge), 3(didn't finish), Blackflag, and now Origins.

I'm sure there's some kind of Abstergo storyline I'm missing, though it hasn't changed my series enjoyment one bit. I've been thinking of eventually getting the other 4 just to see how the story goes, but I don't lose sleep over it.

This is the first Assassins Creed game I'm tempted to buy since the first, don't care much for the series' formula but damn am I sucker for Egyptian/desert themed ♥♥♥♥, the world looks ace.

I'm not exactly new to the series but while owning all the titles I've only ever completed Assassin's Creed II and that was a long time ago but I'm finally going to start up a complete run through of all the titles and this is definitely the place to start if your interested in chronology of the story.

Currently, the game has a few issues but nothing game breaking; at least not from my personal experience.

If you're new to the series, then pick up the previous games and play those instead. By the time you go throught them, Origins will be much cheaper and maybe the performance will be much better.

well, if you play origins, you arent going to play the other AC because they arent as fun as Origin. especially the first AC, its a lackluster and boring. I played from the first AC, AC II, Brotherhood, Revelation (Ezio trilogy, best one), AC III (meh), Black Flag (awesome), Rogue (perfected form of Black Flag), Syndicate and Unity. Finish all except Unity and AC III. storywise, for the real world story its spilled everywhere, I dont even know whats happening anymore. but in the animus world, its not hard to grasp the entire story.

The loot crates are not significant at all, you can get good gear playing through the game normaly. Loot crates are like in Shadow of War, optional and totaly unecessary.

All the items in the lootcrates can be optained by the nomad trader. do his quest once per day and buy the boxes he sells. They have a chance to drop i believe every lootcrate item.
In my first box i got the legendary scorpion mace and my friend got herself the unicorn from one of them too
