I have the same problem and gave up trying to play. Were you able to solve it?
AND I have the excact same problem too cant move at all, tried to verify game files and tried a reinstall, and several reboots notrhing does the trick.. anyone found a solution ??
- Climbing maps to SPACE (instead of ALT)
- Control Senu/eagle to MOUSE5
- Animus pulse to MOUSE4
- Horse/whistle to MOUSE3 (wheel button)
- Plus a bunch of other subtle changes
This setup works beautifully. And yes, the KB+M precision makes me more keen to whip out the bow in combat.
I find the XBO controller setup slightly more effective for combat situations with the sword. For all else, I prefer keyboard + mouse.
The main thing for me is two minor things. Alt is the maneuver setup this time around, and I cannot walk casually with ease on Keyboard + Mouse. Simple things
Theres a reason controllers get aim assist, anolog sticks are garbage for any type of aiming mechanic.
Adding to my keyboard bindings, I use:
- Dodge maps to Q
- Parry maps to E
- Lock target to V
- Smoke screen maps to R
- Walk on/off toggle maps to ` (so I don't accidentally press this during combat)
For me, this felt intuitive in combat since you essentially use A and D constantly to move, and in tune with the player's movement is to dodge or parry just one keystroke away.
Since I haven't play much Origins with KM, I can't say much about the combat and all that, but I think it should be decent.
I'd hope for aiming with a mouse, and fighting + all others with a controller, but I don't think there is this kind of combined controller in the market yet
I got like 1000 hours of experience with aiming with a controller in Resistance: FoM and despite completely slaughtering the lot of the enemy on superhuman difficulty, the aiming happens just as much by moving my character's position rather than actually aiming the gun at the target. The 500 hours I have of aiming in Sniper Elite for PC, I never had to move my character to make the aiming possible. Mouse aiming is just superior.
I do enjoy playing AC games with controllers, though. But, the fact is that playing with a controller for the movements/melee fighting/parkour and a mouse for aiming would be the ideal combo.
In 5 seconds I could kill 3 targets in Skyrim on PC, why do I need to use 3 seconds on shooting one arrow? I could kill targets in MP 100s of metres away in M&B:Warband with a bow in a matter of seconds, since you aim with mouse.
Controllers are great for a lot of things, accurate aiming just isn't one of them.
Mouse and keyboard have long been established as the most accurate gaming input to date. Aim assist never existed before console games/controllers began using the same mechanics that were originally designed for PC.
Because of the lack of input a controller is able to achieve compared to a keyboard, inventive software was introduced for consoles to allow buttons to do different things depending on context of need depending on menu, situation, etc.
Now that games are being developed for consoles, and being ported to PC, a lot of these mechanics have remained, forcing long time mouse/keyboard users to adapt. Think of having to hold or tap a key for example. Aim assist for KB/M is just embarassing, but it's here to stay - thank you for the option to use it or not.
Check any console forum, and you'll quickly see most players don't want a KB/M being used in competitive multiplayer against others using controllers.
Lastly, watching gaming videos where the camera is obviously being moved using a controller just hurts my brain, but that's just me. Can we put this back in the crypt where it belongs now?
