Yeah, I started getting that too, happens after two hours of play with DirectX12 API on, which I use with High res texture pack so I can have a good framerate. Nothing I do works to fix it, but it only started happening after I updated my computer yesterday.

You're not being very descriptive here. What exactly did you update? Drivers, maybe? Newest GPU drivers sometimes mess things up for this game, so unless a critical issue was fixed in the latest driver version or if another game needs updated drivers, you don't need to fiddle with it. I update it like every six months or something, at this point.

Long story short, check what you updated, then decide from there. If it's your GPU driver (which probably is), then downgrade it a few versions and see if that helps.

I updated my OS, the latest update. My GPU was updated to the latest drivers back when they were released in December. I also just realized I'm typing this on my original steam account, not the new one with the same name and pfp... that has the game.

Might want to roll back. I had issues with API 12 last year but somehow I don't have those issues now despite latest update of both my OS and GPU. Call it weird but it stop happening after I reinstall the game without High Res pack included. There may be other factor at play, idk, technology being moody I guess.
Are you guys using an AMD card? I was getting the same error until I rolled back to 24.8.1 driver which is from August driver update. Turning off directx 12 works too but I'd rather roll back if I were you.

That's a pretty hairy situation then. I'm not sure if you can reliably roll back an OS update especially since (I assume) it's Windows. You can still try downgrading your GPU driver just to see if it helps, but I'm not sure.

I wasn't even paying attention, lol. No worries.

I use an NVIDIA card. A GTX 3050 which works flawlessly with the High Res pack and DirectX 12 when it... wants to not crash. Game looks more beautiful than it ever did on my PS4 with these settings.

A quick spin with Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) and NVCleanstall should do the trick then. The former to wipe the driver clean off, and the latter to install any version you want conveniently.
I fixed ERR12 on my laptop by disabling Turbo mode. But in general, don't overclock. It will be gone.

I fixed the problem using the FidelityFX CAS option. Somehow the graphics look bad, but no more errors ever.
