[PSA] Do NOT Update Your Nvidia GPU Drivers to Version 471.11 OR 471.41 (SOLVED IN 471.68)

THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN FIXED AT DRIVER VERSION 471.68

Many people had problems (severe artifacting) after updating to said driver version. People posted about this a lot (while posting their glitching graphics) but no one bothered to make a post dedicated to specifically warn people so this post's goal is that: Raising awareness until the issue is fixed one way or another.

If you didn't update your Nvidia GPU driver yet and was thinking of updating, DON'T.

If you updated already and have the artifacting issue, you need to roll your driver to an earlier version for the time being. Any driver number prior to 471.11 should work as intended. For reference, I currently have 466.77 and it works without any issues so you can try that version if you updated to 471.11.

I was forced to update mine because for whatever reason I was getting an "ERR08 Memory Overrun" message when I tried changing my equipment from the item box, lol.

Had to completely erase Nvidia software and drivers off my PC using DDU to get it to stop doing that, actually. When I reinstalled it all back it came with the 471.11 version by default.

And now you're telling me the new drivers I updated to are bollocks as well?

I haven't seen any severe artifacting yet, where does it happen most commonly after the driver update? And what does it actually look like, would I know it when I saw it? I did a bunch of hunts with the new drivers today, all of them in the Wildspire Wastes, but I didn't notice anything obnoxiously awful graphically, I think.

Like a lot of these issues, it's probably related to specific gpu architectures.

It's very much a real issue, though. Seen quite a few threads about it since 471.11 came out.

If you never update your drivers then you'll see sub par performance in a lot of new games. So, unless you do not play new games at all, then you really should update your drivers at least once a couple of months. Or at least whenever you're planning to play a new game with high hardware requirements.

"If it isn't broken, don't fix it" does NOT apply to drivers after all.

You just never know when it might break things, but that's not an excuse to never update.

Good to know, but last time I updated drivers, I got lots of visual bugs, black-screens/crashes, and had to spend an entire day reading on how to roll back. It wasn't a fun time, so I'm going to leave them alone to avoid a headache.

Except MT Framework and RE Engine are different engines.

Isn't RE Engine based on MT Framework? RE2 seems to be having the same issues too

Nah. Going by the complaints from modders, the two engines are pretty different.
