[Troll] I genuinely feel like Dauntless is the better game and here's why:
When I first played Monster Hunter: World it was a blast,it was my first Monster Hunter game ever. And let's all be honest to ourselves. What a great game! I had fun, even if some things are a bit cringe, like cat companions (like cmon man), the insanely low drop rates that expect me as a player to grind a single monster for 5-10 times. And oh my god it is annoying that you only got the Defender armor after IB came out! Why not give us such a good armor from the get go??? So all in all, good game, if a bit grindy and too difficult. After I finished Xenojiva there was basically no content so I wanted to check out other games like it. Here comes Dauntless...

Dauntless is a game not unlike MH:W:IB in many ways. It does have its' problems like an incessant amount of bugs BUUUT!!! here's why my title is still correct:

The weapon and armor designs in Dauntless are simply better. They are stylish and cool, something I can only say about 1% of MH:W:IB armors.

There are no cutscenes in Dauntless. This is one of the worst points about World. How can you make a game that you can play online but then stop me from playing online without having seen a bad cutscene first??? Obvious point.

Two words: End. Game. World's endgame was abhorrent. You defeat Xenojiva and then what? No direction, no story, nothing. I guess you can... increase your Rank or sth??
Dauntles' endgame is sooo much better. The Escalations and Challenge quests really test your skills and challenge your builds and made me feel epic. I would love to see this content in World 2.

Lastly, and I know this is going to be unpopular but hear me out. A Huntpass is a good idea. Even the free variant gives you tons of rewards for your trouble and if you do decide to spend a bit more and support your game's developer (that still update the game after release, unlike C*pc*m), the rewards are worth it.

To add some of my thoughts still: Iceborne was a good expansion, giving us stuff like layered armor, layered weapons, defender armor and cute side-missions with the camera.
All in all good. But when it comes to Iceborns difficulty.... well... it's kind of bad. Just to name some examples, C*pc*m had to add some sort of endgame content after that rock-eye dragon thing so they added a Monster called 'Alatreon'. This fight uses arbitrarily difficult mechanics like DPS-Checks and it suuuucks. Won't find that in Dauntless.

To sum my thread up, when C*pc*m decides to release their next real Monster Hunter Game (cuz that switch knock-off with those horrible graphics doesn't count), I just want them to do a better job and maybe copy some of Dauntles' good aspects and leave out some of their bad ones. Give us Escalation-like quests, give us more stylish armor, leave out cringe stuff like little kitties who cook and stuff, we don't need that.

Thank you for reading and have a good day (unless you think fatalis was fair, cuz screw that guy :lunar2019laughingpig: )

Tried it before Iceborne came out, didnt like it. Me and couple friends tried it to introduce another friend of ours to a "monster hunter'ish" game for free, but all we could think of was; we'd rather play monster hunter right now.

I understand that people don't like it but it just helps to not make the game such a slog (especially with stuff like decoration farming, wearing the armor and using the weapon allows for that process to be done more casually, which I welcome)

Alright hold up you can say whatever the f*ck you like but I'm gonna stop you right at the "MHW vs Dauntless end game part".

All you do in Dauntless end game is fight the same boring monsters for HOURS after HOURS and get like 2% universal bonus (Reforge, capped at 10%) or some scenario-specific bonus (Escalation, capped and limited to single locale kinda like expedition). Like how the actual f*ck are you liking these kind of brain-rotting grind where you do nothing by killing the same monsters with lacking movesets in 1.5 minutes, then spend 1 minute travelling a boring map, rinse and repeat for THE ENTIRE END GAME. At least in MHW you can take up different builds and fight whatever you liked and they are at least somehow challenging and provides variety to fights. Meanwhile in Dauntless post-reforge you are forced to stick to a single weapon and fight the same monsters for optimum exp and level up, proceed to ascend at max level and restart the entire progress.

The weapon movesets in Dauntless are crappy and devs decided to make them even more crappy each update and the Build variety are basically Mac Donald's sauce choice, you get ketchup and chili and everything else are either tied to specific combo and/or fresh but tastes like sh*t. Meanwhile you get double the weapon choices and quadruple more skills in MHW to experiment and play with.

I'm not saying MHW end game is perfect, (heck it's the same RNG c*ck Capcom's been feeding us ever since the first game), but it's definitely better than what those bunch of headless chickens from PhoenixLab is doing, not only they somehow don't gain any experience from ~6 years of game development, they are also ignoring player (and even official content creator) feedbacks.

Oh and ffs imagine praising guardian armor because it "helps with deco farming"

The main purpose of that armor is to rush up to IB, it should only be used for that, since in IB it will be obsolete and you will have to find a way to get another one, but people just use it for the simple fact that it is "overpowered". "

Which leads to them rushing the game and when they get to IB they don't know how to deal with the enemies.

So I think that the variant "Defend" Although its implementation is fine for veterans (In case you want to start over) Being able to finish the base game quickly, people chose to use it wrongly and then complain about that the game is too "easy" or with the classic "The game is too difficult, they should fix it"

Having said that, as far as Dauntless is concerned, I basically found it very "primitive" then I tried MHW and was like "Why am I playing the copy when I can play the original" Obviously I don't want to sound bad, but Dauntless is basically for people who don't have a good economic support and cannot opt for MHW, it is as in the case of Overwatch and Paladins.

And that is my humble opinion personally. (Had to use googe translator >.<)

So you like it to be more casual. I don't know about Dauntless but I guess it's easy and casual. Good for you mate.

complains about graphics of rise but enjoys playing dauntless, can you find the cognitive dissonance alone? dauntless graphic style is even more inferior, imo, but tastes differ it reminds me to the boring wow comic style.

dauntless feels so soulless empty, no ecosystem only a bit of flora and a gaint monster to fight
some people may enjoy this puristic graphic style, while you can focus on the mainparts better, like many people hate flora in modern first person shooter while it always blocks your vision if you prone and it is more difficult to spot opponents.

are you serious about the armor point, there is barely any real variety in dauntless
most of the armors look like leather armors with a few monster specific attachments

there is no need for an artificial gameboost pass, if you like capcom and want to support them further simply buy the game multiple times instead of giving them false incentives and buy cosmetics, so they will simply add more cosmetics to the next game instead of adding maybe more work into additional monsters, but you are battling against hordes of cosmetic enthusiasts, but is probably also much easier to add a few tiny things like new haircut or fancy filter vs creating new monsters with unique behavior, animation, armors and weapons.

i really tried to like dauntless. I cant say that it has no interesting ideas. however it feels like just another soulless grind free to play game. i really could not get past it. i thought I would love it because I love monster hunter but man playing that game was like doing work not like playing a game.
ominumi May 12, 2022 @ 9:34pm
I tried out Dauntless for the hell of it just to see what the fuss is about. Monsters are not engaging. They feel like Great Jagras that moves around a lot more. There's always something to do. You can do exploration. Then after the fifth run it's like, "Hey, I've done this before. I'm just running in circle for no reason other than to waste time." The game gets dull really fast. All because we're fighting every monster with the same exact tactics.

Think I dropped it after a day or two.
Haven't touched it since...
