All shield weapons hold the shield in the right hand because let's see you try to block a large monster attack with your non-dominant arm.

This is why we should just put a shield on both arms, and wield a sword on both hands :mhwgood:

Dunno much about weapon wielding but I am just assuming they are left handed, Why is such a minute detail, that is very unlikely to affect gameplay even bothering you

Most weapons, if not all, favor the left hand. Don't really get why that would be annoying but sure…

True, SnS should just be shield and shield, much more badass and cooler

How about sword and sword?

Oh, wait, they already made that...

And that doesn't fix the annoyance that is holding a sword with your left hand.

I think given the mix of sword and shield attacks focusing on either one of the two makes the shield being in either hand irrelevant; Given that you don't fight other people in the game but instead giant monsters having your shield in your dominant hand would be safer for you against a giant monster but hat's under the assumption hunters are all right handed.

While I do get you point isnt the sword usually held in the dominant hand and the shield in the non-dominant. Unless MHW characters are all lefthanded or ambidextrous

Usually, yes, against human opponents with typical human weapons. Parrying and blocking attacks from a weapon that weighs a few pounds being wielded by a human is a lot less demanding than trying to block a charge from a beast that weighs as much as a car or more. For attacks such as that, you're going to want your good arm to be handling your defense.

I'm ok with that, I mostly use the shield bash attack to exhaust the monster, so to me, it has the shield on the right hand (no pun intended)

I believe in pot lid supremacy. Guard 5 SnS goes *tink*.
