Actually I also have my problems with him. But yes, I am aware that it's a skill issue, I somehow never can avoid him well. Or at least I used to. I learned to handle him in Generations, never fought him in World since then again. Maybe all is well now.
Another advice is that optional arena quests are often much better than the storymode to fight the new monsters, since ppl will flood those while ignoring your story SOS requests.
nice try, takes 16 minutes for a speedrunner to do this ♥♥♥♥, there's no way the average player can do do this and you still disagree MR is ♥♥♥♥ unbalanced
MR stats bloat is the most ♥♥♥♥ i have seen the weapons can't keep up with the bloat, rarity 10 or 11 weapons do piss poor dmg to MR monsters, 160 SAED on the head of Jyura MR3 with 3x 20 phial dmg if AED ??? can't even complete any MR investigation because the time limit always running out\
this ♥♥♥♥ always spam the 360 spin or jumping triple flame breath which guarantees a hit if you stay under him this monster is ♥♥♥♥
For what it's worth, Glav is about a 5/10 on difficulty. You haven't even seen a tough fight yet.
of course 10 years old MH speedrunners can fight anything
HR to MR in MHR was better and more balanced, i can do 800-1000 dmg on MR monsters with rajang SAED, in world ? rarity 10 ore CB do pathetic dmg on the monster, 200 dmg axe hit and 60 per phial. i even stopped doing investigations for mat farming because everything has insane amount of HP while the weapons are trash and not doing enough dmg to finish the quest in time limit
did they make this game for multiplayer only ? maybe, i don't know but it's so stupid fighting MR jyuratoddus investigations for material but quest ended up fail because the time limit runs out ??? why is this even a thing ? even 80k HP anomaly quest in rise have much more time limit than this ♥♥♥♥.
So while you're in early master rank, you're still fighting monsters with a fraction of the health of those that Rise has, and as such, deal a fraction of the damage overall. This leads to the average hunt times to be very much the same in the end.
The only thing that truly drags on a fight is sucking at it and then blaming the game, which just might be the only thing you're at a master rank in.
If so, then that's wack, as R12 is the highest for MHW (for some odd reason)
Also, youre using the same setups as well? Or at least, similar setups?
Just admit you're below average and cannot improve.
I'll show the math that I used to reach this conclusion below, but what's most likely happening is that you are attacking an untenderized hitzone with a build that has almost or perhaps literally zero offensive skill investment. You can push through the tenderization if you really hate it, but this is Iceborne now, the post-endgame content of world. It is expected that you have a strong build and a good understanding of buildcrafting going in; that's part of the game and a skill that every player was expected to hone, and thus the monsters are balanced around that assumption. Your damage is expected to be more towards 140% of what it is now; if you have no cit and little attack boosting gear, it's natural that the HP pools would feel bloated.
Here is how I determined this:
Jyura has a head HZV of 23 (mud caked) or 58 (clean). Tenderization changes the hitzone value according to the formula: (Base HZV) + (100 - Base HZV)*0.25, and thus the head rises to 42 or 68 if softened.
CB's AED (w charged shield) has an MV of 1.03 + 0.1*3 if it hasn't been changed since the basegame. I'm going to save myself some hassle and look at Chrome Fortress 1, the beginner Master Rank ore charge blade, a decent enough weapon for low master rank monsters. It has Impact Phials and a bloated AR of 792. CB bloat values are 3.6, so the actual base AR is 220. This is further modified by sharpness; this particular weapon reaches white, which has a physical damage multiplier of 1.15. Also, we need to add the +15 true raw from a Powercham and Powertalon.
The formula for damage dealt is thus:
(HZV)*(AR+15)*(Axe Hit MV)*(sharpness modifier) + (AR+15)*(Phial MV)*3
If you plug the numbers in, even on the untenderized mud-covered head, you're hitting for 64 damage with the axe and 134 total. Against a tenderized clean head, it's 259 total with 189 coming from the axe. Against a standard head, 231 total with 161 damage from the axe. The latter matches OP's description of the situation almost exactly.
Either your build lacks damage, or you're using a grossly outdated weapon. Either way, the fix is simple and straightforwards.
Glavenus does not have any triple-fireball attack. You may have been unlucky and had them chain three fireballs back to back, but it isn't an actual combo or anything.
The spin is highly telegraphed; if you're not confident in your ability to dodge it, there is ample time to sheathe and superman dive.
As others have noted, that video is not a speedrun. For your consideration here is an actual Acidic Glavenus speedrun.
cheer up, op, you'll have a better personality when you come out of this.
