MHW is the best experience for new players because it's better explained and generally more user friendly + has better QoL, as well as being by far the most visually striking. The combat system is also generally faster and more reactive, which fans of certain games might enjoy more than the older predictive patterns.
MHR is currently the best running, best maintained, and most active of the mobile titles, so if that's what you want go there.
In terms of total available content and player customization, I've heard very good things about both Generations Ultimate and 4U. If you're a series vet and you don't give a fig about multiplayer or graphics, and you intend to play for a huge amount of time, these games are probably the best.
All Mon Hun clones are TRASH and these companies don't understand what makes Mon Hun special and fun.

tri was great for ambience (p3rd and 3u ruined tundra's caves) and the monsters were unique and cool, but we got uragaan from there, so forget about it being the best
most solid mh i'd say is freedom unite, but after ukanlos you have nothing to do except get good at the game
4u is a game that for some reason a lot of people like
gu solves the no post game issue of freedom unite by giving you so much that you'd need a lot of time to complete it all, plus all the issues that the 4th gen introduced, and while a good idea, deviant quest progress sucks massive ♥♥♥♥
world/iceborne, while doing plenty of good things (explanding on weapon movesets) did a lot of things wrong (sliding, continuing the verticality meme, elderseal, handler, removing rajang and zinogre's hind legs weak spot) and, thanks for being on the ps4 originally, focused too much on environment and cinematics
overall, it's freedom unite
you can't have a good monster hunter game without an actual farm (and people not talking about the kitchen theme is a capital crime)

MHW is actually amazingly on point, the problem is the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ story and lack of a good "rest zone". The towns are... quite bad compared to the old ones, like POkke village and etc
