Not knocking the game, it is fun, but it's much easier then world.
Heck, they have a "challenge quest" where you fight 3 of the most dangerous monsters in the arena, maganamalo, rajang, and hazel...I remembered about halfway through that I couldn't restock on potions, so I had 2 megas, and 7 regulars to get me through maganamalo, and hazel....I was playing shieldless HBG, and my best talisman had 1 level weakness exploit, no slots xD...I won, first try, unprepared, no defensive skills.
I don't think I would have gotten away with that on world
OH, and the palicos are SUPER strong, they knock you out of stun and status almost immediately, and even in a 4 player hunt, everyone can still bring a buddy that can heal, increase damage, set traps, inflict status etc. Etc.
Lagombi almost got me, although I was using GS, which im not used to playing yet in Rise...still got my sht handed to me...
If we judge the two games purely by their release level of content, I would say they're about the same. Rise doesn't have difficulty spikes in the same way World did which makes it feel a lot easier overall, and Rise forgives mistakes easily, but IMO Rise's roster in High Rank is overall more threatening than in World. The monsters can consistently catch me out every now and then, which I definitely couldn't say about base World where against even endgame Tempered Elders, the fights usually ran like clockwork.
As for if it's better to be hard or easy, I think all MH games should strive to have genuinely challenging content in it for variety's sake, but the base formula is strong enough to work regardless of how hard/easy the fights are, which is a large part of the reason why I like the series so much. I have no issue with how the overall difficulty of the game pans out as long as I have options.
And regarding that, while Rise doesn't have an AT Nergi/Xeno equivalent yet, I do think the Apex hunts will adequately scratch my difficult fight itch. I'm very grateful Rise has started catering to that so early, as one of my complaints with World's support was that they dragged their feet with difficult fights (and flopped hard with Lunastra) when the playerbase was really craving some.
personally i'd say they're about the same. though i find all the games basically the same so *shrugs* lol
off-topic but anyone else still waiting for that surprise apex jaggi reveal? it's coming eventually, i can feel it
what this guy said. i died to a normal rathalos for the first time in the entire series in rise, which is surely a sign of something. also if we compare the early monsters, imo rise is harder than world, especially for a new player (probably)
Wirebug recovery is a free sheathe. That's pretty insane for half the weapons in the game.
And tbh Apex can't really be properly compared to anything in world, they aren't just tempered monsters because not only they have more health, they also have some new attacks and different effects. They almost feel like an ED version of that monster since they can't be captured either.
I think we might have different definitions for the word 'insane'
Assuming similar sheathing times to World since I haven't seen the exact numbers for Rise they average around 1.3 seconds, if it was that big of a deal I'd be using quick sheathe on everything
Also not free since it costs wirebugs and if I had the option to do a recovery without sheathing my weapon but keeping my wirebug I would use that 100% of the time
IMO, rise KD is better, not because it's easier, but because its less annoying
