how rare "phantom bird" is?

low rank expeditions, just swap between wild waste and ancient forest, search area 1 of each. no spawn, end expedition and try the other area. repeat. took me ~ 70 or 80 attempts or about 30minutes.

i got them in hr area 1 of the jungle during day, they were right on the crest of an apthonot. used the conceal mantle to approach them.

Took me 45 mins swapping between low and high rank quests.

Took me over 10 hours to finally find it. Ended up having to run around in the same map for 30 minutes to come back to see if they spawned since cycling never worked for me. I found the fish eons ago.
But if you want to try cycling, just check the aptonoths and at southwest and northwest forest, and the apceros southwest and northeast desert.

For me, I found that you actually have to get near the aptonoth/asperos for them to spawn. Just looking from afar won't do anything. Just be sure to be wearing a ghillie and you'll hear them.

I got them from the top left camp, after turning my back, opening the map n turning around.

Try leaving Palico at base camp. First time I did that they spawned and i now have 4 little birds in my room chirping away :)

Took me 4 or 5 hours. I could see spawn chance being 1% per expidition or something like that.

took me 10 min and I found 3x the event/birds...

they literally spawn in front of you at sunset.

took me 10-15 minutes, Go to the desert map, go to the herd near the top part of the map with the hidden cloak. Once you find them, go near them and turn away until you hear bird noises.

I'm having more trouble finding the phantom flutterby.

I have found all of mine in the Wildspire Wastes. Just go on an expedition there during the day and leave from camp 1. The monsters just outside of the camp have a chance of spawning them. Jump between this spot and the first Ancient Forest camp and just keep checking the backs of the monsters right outside. Once it becomes evening/night, take a break and do something else since I don't believe they spawn.

You can also try the turn away until chirping method which I have not tested because I am hard of hearing.
