"the real game starts after blah" is just a meme.
The tempered monsters are a psuedo G rank. You are able to fight monsters with the same health pools, however they deal increased damage. Tempered monsters are only able to be flash bombed 3 times before becoming immune for the rest of the match. Once you start fighting tempered the game becomes an RNG grind fest. Each tempered monster is usually done through investigation process. The monsters are randomly given based on prints found ( finding prints of the a tempered nergi does not mean you will its investigation as it is random). With in each of these investigations conditions are assigned much like other missions, rather than the gold silver and bronze rewards those slots are replaced with gem slots. Each mission assigned gives 1-5 of these end reward slots. You hope to get streamstones of the rarity that fits your weapon you are attempting to augment. The augment process allows you to further add effects to your weapon of choice. !0% affininity , 5 true attack, 10 defense, a single gem slot in the weapon, or 10% damage leech.
The chances of finding the streamstone you want for your weapon and rarity of the weapon is low at best, you will have some times have piles of gems from tempered elders before you get a single random streamstone, not counting that the stone is assigned a random weapon type.
People say the game starts here, because they enjoy grinding random slot machines and mistake that system for content. There is not really any content after the credits you havnt experienced already, just monsters with more damage that you have already fought. And a gamble like system of RNG
We certainly can't act like we're surprised it's all the game is about!
♥♥♥♥ off.
I make weapons and try new ones.
the journey is almost always better than the end. that's why ppl kept telling us to rush because you'll essentially doing the same thing in lr.

Whether it is good or bad design IS a matter of opinion.
