My girlfriend games, often with me. Shes got a decent grasp of most game mechanics, but when I got her to try darksouls 1 its like gaming was an entirety different concept for her entirely. You have to think about these games and their difficulties in relation to newcomers to the series, and assuming a basic literacy in game mechanics and standards. Someone who plays lot of and is decent at Secret World Legends, Minecraft, No Mans Sky ect wont find Monster Hunter World to be an easy, or even forgiving game. Someone who's played through demon souls, darksouls 1-3, and every monster hunter since 2004 is of course going to have an easier time with MHW.
That's like comparing fitness joggers to competitive marathoners, who do you think is going to have the best time in a marathon?
Arguably, either Sekiro or Bloodborne because of the different combat systems. Sekiro especially requires more combat play than pressing R1, rolling, and blocking. Anyway, here's some quick responses:
-Most serious rhythm games, look up "pro DDR" and discover for yourself that superhumans do indeed live among us
-Most serious bullet hell games
-Grandmaster Tetris, which is Tetris at the highest speed setting possible to the point where blocks will essentially slam to the bottom of the screen the moment they spawn, and to beat the game, you need to not only get a very successful run but then spend the final stretch of that run with all placed blocks being invisible. Becoming a Tetris grandmaster is a VERY impressive accomplishment that very few people have achieved
-I Wanna Be The Guy and most kaizo games in general, the difficulty in said subgenre is, by design, supposed to be as unfair as possible while still being technically beatable.
Dark Souls is a relatively fair game series about learning basic positioning, attack timings/rhythms, and how to navigate a level. As long as you're proficient in all three, the games are extremely beatable, and all three skills aren't actually that difficult to acquire which is why it's so critically acclaimed, as long as you don't give up, most gamers can beat it.
However, the whole curve definitely assumes you have a solid foundation going into the game. Dark Souls 3 especially has an extremely punishing wall in the form of Iudex Gundyr. If you're not used to stuff like action RPGs, it will definitely kick one's ass.
This is part of why MHW is actually arguably easier, the starting monsters have often been designed so anyone of practically any skill level can beat them. The bar for entry is actually a lot lower than in most other games I can think of.
This version is the simplest version of all MHF
The really difficult version is the online MHFZ - Zenith version
But the server has stopped
This version does not take too much time to make equipment
The skill set becomes very monotonous but simple
It is completely to cater to the game market in Europe and the United States.
what are -you- talking about? america didn't win every war ever wanting casual games my friend
It might be due to how popular the series is, and how fun and amazing the games are. If you look at my profile ... you could likely tell I am obsessed with the series XD
Any game similar to it automatically gets compared, even if it's just the difficulty itself.
Well, not only is this not helping the OP with his concern in any way, that's pretty rude. If you have constructive criticism, there's a much better way of displaying it.
yeah, i'm fine with comparing monster hunter and dark souls, since they're both slow-paced action games, but damn, when comparisons happen, there's always a lot saying "dark souls isn't that hard", no matter what we're comparing it with
our grammars are fine tho, and not sure what we did to trigger you
EDIT : never mind, i just checked your post history and that's just the kind of person you are
But yes, difficulty depends on ur play cuz of the 14 wpns in the game. Each different situation has a different difficulty.
Example is Kirin, a unicorn like Elder Dragon, is harder to fight with Dual Blades compared to slicing Light Bowgun (for me thst is) cuz of the available hitzones when agitated, which is just the head
And Teostra, a lion like Elder Dragon, is easier for me with Long Sword than say Bow and Light Bowgun cuz of, once again, the hitzones when Teostra is agitated, again just the head but also the tail as well
dark souls is for nerds
Here, it's probably because games are Dark Souls games aren't really that hard for people who regularly play other, similar games that are also challenging. For example Dark Souls. It really depends on what games you like to play, if you are a casual gamer who plays sports games or FPS games with friend, then Dark Souls can indeed be a shock because it's a huge difficulty spike from those. But if you were for example raised on MH franchise, then Dark Souls doesn't look that difficult anymore, it's just another challenging game. Also, some people are simply better at video games than others, hence you see many people claim they don't see how Dark Souls is considered difficult, and that they completed them without too many issues. Most of them are larpers though, who want to look like they know what they're doing.
And yes, on the whole spectrum of video games difficulty, Dark Souls isn't very high on the list. And whatever fans of Monster hunter like to say, none of the Monster Hunter games are up there as well.
