Hosting a server on LAN
I have been getting into mods in Sandstorm recently and like playing on my own against bots. I find it annoying to launch a game in local play and then use commands to load the mods and custom maps every time. I thought it would be fun and more convenient to just make a server on my local area network and have it configured to my liking so I can just launch it every time I want to play. I also like the idea of having access to the admin options panel. For whatever reason, I cannot figure out how to connect the server on my LAN without first port forwarding and configuring it so it is visible to everyone. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

To play on your lan server, go to server browser and use your local IP and port to connect, you can't see you server in the master server list, but you can connect if you use your local IP.

i have found this to be untrue. the only way we have been able to connect locally is by running a vpn on the client and then the server is visible from outside the network.

Assuming your client is Online you absolutely can connect via local IP to a LAN server.

For trully Offline scenario, it's kinda wonky and it is possible some additional commandline arguments are needed to disable auth system.
