I really like to know:
1) How to see, which version is installed - do we have to look into the mod-folder for that?
2) Do we have to subscribe to mods, to update them on the server?
3) Why are ALL mods shown, if you subscribe to them, even if you only use 1-2 mods on the server?
4) What is the correct way to manually update mods in an easy manner? I don't want to get through the whole process of manually downloading and frickeling with the State.json all the time - this isn't really working in the long run.
Suggestion:
A lot of server owners wanted a MOTD for a long time now. Perhaps it's time to show a server-dashboard screen if you click on the fitting icon in the serverbrowser (something like "server-information).
This "dashboard" is a mixture between a Serverinfo.txt on the server and additional information about installed mods and general game-informations.
Part from Serverinfo.txt:
- Header (usually servername and/or owner, clantag etc.)
- Subline (usually gamestyle etc.)
- Copytext (usually how to play on this server)
Part from the game itself:
- Location, IP, Ping
- Version of the game
- Gamemode atm
- Map atm
- Side atm
- Playerlist atm
- Slots (max.), Slots (open)
- Mutators + Explanations
- make favorite "name" (save fav as displayed name)
- make favorite "IP" (save fav from IP)
Part from Mods.txt
- Mods + Versions installed, directlink to download manually from mod.io
- Check players mods vs. servermods (green = installed, red = has to be installed)
Part from Admins.txt
- Adminlist: SteamID + Name + Link to profile
Part from Bans.json
- Banlist + bantime + reason
This would enable serverowners to transparently show their gamestyle, players who like to joins could see in one glance who plays on the server, what gamemode is playing, what slots are open, what mods are installed, what has to be installed yet, who's admin, who's banned and why.
However, I see this as a movie, National Lampoon's Vacation and the scene, where the car is stopped by the cop, who hands the driver (Chevy Chase), the broken end of the dog leash, that was tied to the bumper and no dog. That is SS in a nutshell.
They used to work and download just fine, nothing have changed on the server.
I swear NWI can't do anything right.
I've got the same problem with my server also, I sent an email to modio but haven't heard back so for now i've just been copying from machine my and pasting to the server.
NWI FFS put your sh!t together
It seems that for now I will always have to keep updating my servers manually, damn...
Hope this is gonna get fixed soon...., but I dont really count on it. If this issue is being addressed with similar hurry like the one which is being invested in fixing PRECINCT....RIP
NWI support is a joke, they never answer tickets and if they do it's just an auto message saying thanks for your ticket and that they will look into the issue and NEVER reply back.
I dont know anybody from management of NWI in person, but it seems that they are aiming too high! And normally it`s fine to try to reach for the stars, but things are off on too many fronts!
Now my clan server is not updating mods WTF!!!!!!!!!!
They moved CDN provider and that is why mod download is too slow for now but they are working with their provider to get that resolved soon.
Those TLS issues are because you need to run the server on at least windows 10 or windows server 2016 since mod.io is using TLS 1.3 and older windows versions don't support it.
They said they will try to make it to work with TLS 1.2 so there are 2 options, either install windows 10 or win server 2016 on your box or just wait for them to get it working with TLS 1.2
