Recommendation for renting a server.
I am looking to host a server which will have the following settings:

- Co-op matches only. Does not know if this means maximum slots should be 8 or 16?

- Sides and maps automatically rotate.

- Autobalance bots on the basis of number of human players.

- Preferably have a server location in Seattle, WA.

Any suggestions for a hosting service that will let me configure a server in this way?
Thanks.

Well for starters....you only need to rent 8 slots from whoever you choose? As to what is closest or best for you I don't know....I'm just a heathen from Texas.

Edit: These folks say they have one....don't know anything about'm though?

They are based in San Diego but have servers everywhere.
We choose servers in Texas so it would basically be in the middle for everyone.
They do have amazing service. I have put in tech tickets at 2 am and have had them immediately answered/worked on.

Rent a dedicate server and set it up urself
If you rent a gameserver, expect to have some limit

Recommend you to use OVH for dedicate server. They really cheap.

I'm going to strongly recommend NFO, too. I went with two other providers: G-Portal and HostHavoc. HostHavoc had server performance issues that they couldn't rectify after switching different machines and elevating support, and G-Portal had various web GUI problems.. Unless you have a managed/unmanaged VDS, I would go with NFO; you can get an unmanaged VDS from them, too.. or a box.

managed/unmanaged VDS works very well for our group

I second GTX, I setup a server in Los Angeles for 8 slots with 3 bots for 1 player and 6 bots for 2 ... setup is a breeze and so far I have no latency issues or anything ... their support answered my questions both yesterday and today within minutes. Prior to GTX I had another company hosting, but I switched ... in any case I'm sure there are other great companies out there, but GTX is good for me now.

The main reason for the server was so me and a buddy could do practice runs, but if OP you want to test it out just msg me and I'll give you the address.

Thanks. I can't seem to figure out how to get anything under 10 slots and at the same time am not sure if those count for both human players as well as bots? Or just bots?

My main idea is to use this more as a private server to practice with my buddy as well. Since they don not have Seattle I may go with Oregon.
You may need to do a VDS, or ask a provider directly via ticket submission to see if they'll do something special for you. They should be able to set the maxplayers via command line on the game server, but you'd be able to do that from your VDS if you had one instead.

I am guessing a VDS is the same as a VM in Digital Ocean, Linode, etc? If yes, what kind of specs are we looking at for them?

The only reason I was trying to avoid this is not need to spend time setting it up for the game specifically and already have it good to go.

Well, I wasn't able to find anything below 8-10 slots, which at the price point that the hosting service is offered isn't that bad. Like someone else said maybe a service can get you a deal, but I'm not sure. The slots count as human players ... if you go with GTX you will be able to confirm it with their portal where it displays the server capacity/memory/etc. that's also where you will be able to configure your game.ini and map rotation so you and your buddy can play on the map rotation you specify. I live in LA and my buddy is in NYC, and even though we have the server hosted in LA neither one of us have issues with the game.

Thanks for the awesome input guys. Based on your input I have subscribed for a month each of both GTX Gaming as well as NFO Servers and see which one I like better. I do have 1 more questions I am hoping you guys can answer.

Am I correct in my understanding that these servers would be considered community servers and anyone playing in them would NOT get XP?

Thanks again guys and gals.

Yes any community server will not give any EXP at all. Rank will NOT show in community server too. You will stay at rank 0 forever in community server.
To gain credit and exp, players have to use the find match.

Right now the community server only play for fun with people, not for leveling up
