Serious problems with cheaters

This community is pretty toxic when it comes to addressing cheaters. Understanding the fundamentals of this game isn't too hard. For most modes, play the objective and you'll win. You don't need to have the highest KDR to win. It takes time to gain a directional sense, but eventually, you'll learn all the maps, their choke points and spawn points. Strategically speaking, this game isn't that hard. Most people just really want to be elite snipers and get a million kills and win the match by depleting all the enemy waves. Which means for all the people who aren't campers you can use a combination of cover and smoke to move quickly and safely through the map. You don't have to pretend you're 007 and be all sneaky beaky like. When you arrive at choke points, check your angles and corners and proceed when you've verified it's safe. It's kind of easy once you get it. Everyone is so slow, they're never ready for players who move fast. Almost never. But you get the point. Control the pace of the game = win.

But some players... some very strange players under lvl 50 play like they're lvl 5000, shooting you through walls while you're alt walking, killing you at 300m where you can barely even make out a person moving, dome you the moment you peek a wall you've been behind for the past 2 minutes without any giveaway, the moment a pixel of your player's elbow is on their screen, you're dead. But don't you dare suspect they're a cheater. The whole server will sh*t all over you, tell you how bad you are, what a pathetic loser you are, to uninstall the game. No one ever cheats in this game. How could they ever? Insurgency: Sandstorm is home to the most noble and honorable gamers. Right? Wait... no... not right. It's 2024 and no game is free of cheaters. Every single competitive game has cheaters, blatant ones and very sneaky ones, who do their best to seem like they're legit. But guess what happens when the whole community silences anyone who calls hacks? It's super easy for hackers to get away with it. They don't even have to defend themselves, everyone else will.

I think I'm done with this game now. I enjoyed it for a good while. But even if it's only 1 cheater every 10-15 matches, that's too much for me. And the community's unwillingness to admit that they even exist ruins it for me.

If you think someone is cheating look watch the recording and report suspicious behavior to NWI. Cheaters exist but making unsubstantiated claims will get you nowhere. No need to write a diatribe .

if you're playing it fast and strictly objective oriented, you gotta know there are people who play domination all day to be able to prefire common angles, i'm not one but there are ways to deal with them too.

not denying any cheaters, there most certainly are since this game is 24/7 on sale.
they usually play in packs so they never get votekicked.

You do encounter the occasional wall-hacker. But it is rare. I have yet to experience an enemy aim-botter. Even at that it is dubious, because I recognize I make the mistake of making too much noise sprinting everywhere or yelling area taunts or team commands. This game is too unique to drop- what else is out there? ARMA? Tarkov? Call of Duty? There is none like it. Play Push game mode and git gud about your skill issue.

Its easy to google the cheats they are using to this day. ESP and all types that aim to go undetected but still alter the game. You can feel it in the lobby and ive seen it in replay but its subtle and hard to spot

This method is too time consuming. Ive noticed frequently a group of known cheaters that fill the lobby and gas light anyone in the lobby. They have VACs on some of their acc and theres many of them over lvl +1000. I have over 1500 hours in the game and play with other high levels frequently, these are not your average skilled players. In a replay all i could see was one of them aim at me and toggle something but thats after reviewing an hour long game painstakingly. They need to find ways to battle the cheats that are currently available or else im afraid my favourite game is about to die. :(

u pretty much explained the way i wouldve did it. I think and agree the same way. The legit players are somewhat brainwashed by saying theres 0 cheaters, wallhacker/esp. They never play the game as a competitive player, they just play the game and thats it, but someone who is more professional, plays more competitive, analyzes the game by instinct, and when a player has a suspicious behaviour(they move like, think, and shoot like a noob and have unbelievable timings), i even check profile of the player and 50/50 that they already banned by VAC or something, have a typical cheater profile, i call him out for cheating, whole server just doesnt even want to giv a fk to check him and they all act arrogant like they even know how things work. So yeah.. i feel u mate

To be fair it is a beloved game, but yes you can hardly recommend it for pvp as among other things the anti-cheat report does not work and the licence might not be up to date, the company still offer some support but having to reach out to them directly is a pain as cheater have a tendency to come back the same way my allergies comes back every spring, people do their due diligence and still like clockwork they comeback. And as for the dev combating cheat... well if COD can't do you really think they could... sad all around but what can you do.
