LMG Firing delay
so i get that the point of an LMG is long to mid range firefights and is not meant to be used for up close or run and gun

but i do feel it needs a buff, remove the firing delay and make it even with other guns

They use an open bolt, so it takes slightly longer, but the delay in-game is a bit too much.

i dont think it needs to be exactly life like, and i really love the MG3 haha, i dont think removing that delay will hurt the game

Of course it does not hurt the game. I am just saying that the current delay feels too long. The MG3 delay is pretty much only half of what it feels like in-game. Recoil is too strong as well.

Do you know what the delay is now?

If we take the MG3 at 1400RPM, there’s 42.9ms between shots. So just assuming 1/2 of that delay is the bolt moving forward may make the real firing delay 21.45ms. Maybe.

The PKM would be 46ms.
Maybe the springs move the bolt forward faster than it is returned though. I don’t know.

@chronos why are you arguing if we already agree XD

@dprac naw man not the fire rate, the delay from mouse click to ingame firing.

I'm talking about the real firing delay of an MG compared to in-game.
It's related to the fire rate as the fire rate is determined by how fast the bolt cycles which also determines how long the delay would be on firing.

Imo firing delay is of the positive and quite brilliant solutions to balance out lmg’s, while serving some realism aswell.

It prevents lmg’s from becoming quick reacting one shot kill dmr’s and in my case it rarely has been the main factor of dying as a gunner.

Instead they need to nerf vertical recoil already and replace it with horizontal recoil and/or more sway.

What makes you think I am arguing? Did I disagree with anything you have said ?

This is not CS:GO. Guns needs to be as realistic as possible to maintain the hardcore shooter feeling of this game, if we start battering down things for balance, this game is just an other Call of Duty.

Don’t think you actually read what I said.

I did.

I never said this is CS, or that it should balance things like CS.

I said firing delay mechanic is good for both realism and balance. Lmg’s are like this irl because of the open bolt system like d_prac explained.

I also implied the massive vertical recoil is unrealistic and a dumb way to balance things and mentioned alternatives.

You can’t make it 100% realistic though because machine guns would simply become OP if you just remove all viewkick, because the base mechanics we’re working with are hardly any realistic in the first place.

So some ‘arbitrary’ trade offs are necessary I’m afraid. But I believe it can be done better than currently the case.

Yeah and I have confirmed this by sharing my real life knowledge.

Nope. LMG's have an open bolt.

Which does not change the fact that the delay is too long. At least for the MG3 as I know.

Wait...there’s a delay? Now I feel worse to losing a cqc battle with them.
