If you're angry and bitter about living in a wheelchair, you don't need to bring over people down over. People have valid complaints about the AI, myself included. I've played on many of the 57th servers and I'll get domed from a mile away by a bot with a Browning Hi-Power. The AI is broken.
Too bad that power / money hungry server owners tends to be either quite self-centered or forcing to lie to themselves about issues in order to feel better about slamming people with complaints in the forums almost 24/7 and low-key trick people into joining their servers.
That's the point of having a challenge. If all enemies were cake walks then the game would be boring.
I theorize, that whenever something breaks or is incomplete in the script, the bots revert to their default settings, which results in an instant Murder Death Kill, unless there's an override in effect, like maximum engagement range or retreat. That's when you can see them with gun fever, shooting the ground, the sky and everything in between as they run around. I think it's an NWI band-aid: a reduction in their accuracy to ~0, instead of addressing the actual cause of a bot aggroing when it's not supposed to, and shooting with perfect accuracy in the middle of a sprint.
This is just me trying to make sense of all the wild stuff I've seen over a few hundred hours though.
Hi!
I created a thread in the past about the AI, and how to make it more... human.
Apparently AI in the game is very good compared with other games. AI in this game is able to listen and guess your position like you do when you listen them. Also they can guess you position behind a wall and shot. Not many games have AI like this. The problem Insurgency does not tell you that! And that is not negative! It is positive! I will use it to promote the game and and I will give parameters to allow users to adapt the AI to their needs.
I figure out a way to make AI more human.
1. Create a Game.ini or modify the existing one in this folder: C:\Users\Kid\AppData\Local\Insurgency\Saved\Config\WindowsClient
2. Edit the file using the NotePad and add one of this blocks of data. Only add the information between line of "#":
For easy mode:
################################
[/script/insurgency.inscheckpointgamemode]
bBots=True
SoloEnemies=6
FriendlyBotQuota=4
AIDifficulty=0.1
bAllowFriendlyFire=True
[/script/aimodule.aisenseconfig_hearing]
HearingRange=3
LoSHearingRange=0
bUseLoSHearing=False
[/script/aimodule.aisenseconfig_sight]
SightRadius=300
LoseSightRadius=350
PeripheralVisionAngleDegrees=40
################################
For "fun and fair":
################################
[/script/insurgency.inscheckpointgamemode]
bBots=True
SoloEnemies=6
FriendlyBotQuota=5
AIDifficulty=0.1
bAllowFriendlyFire=True
[/script/aimodule.aisenseconfig_hearing]
HearingRange=3
LoSHearingRange=0
bUseLoSHearing=False
[/script/aimodule.aisenseconfig_sight]
SightRadius=300
LoseSightRadius=350
PeripheralVisionAngleDegrees=25
################################
For medium mode:
################################
[/script/insurgency.inscheckpointgamemode]
bBots=True
SoloEnemies=6
FriendlyBotQuota=4
AIDifficulty=0.3
bAllowFriendlyFire=True
[/script/aimodule.aisenseconfig_hearing]
HearingRange=5
LoSHearingRange=0
bUseLoSHearing=False
[/script/aimodule.aisenseconfig_sight]
SightRadius=300
LoseSightRadius=350
PeripheralVisionAngleDegrees=90
################################
For good mode:
################################
[/script/insurgency.inscheckpointgamemode]
bBots=True
SoloEnemies=6
FriendlyBotQuota=4
AIDifficulty=0.5
bAllowFriendlyFire=True
[/script/aimodule.aisenseconfig_hearing]
HearingRange=7
LoSHearingRange=0
bUseLoSHearing=False
[/script/aimodule.aisenseconfig_sight]
SightRadius=600
LoseSightRadius=700
PeripheralVisionAngleDegrees=180
################################
As you can see this information changes basically vision, hearing, difficulty.
Try the different options starting from "easy" and you will see how awesome the game is once the AI does not instant kill you all the time!
I did study a lot of information about the game and then I figure out that with this parameters was possible to make a great experience.
I did tested that information and still works. They should reduce the AI for new players if not it feels like they are cheating. The problem is that in this game AI is more complicated than other games! It can hear and shot you behind a wall.
If you know more parameters to make things better please let me know!
I will love to have the parameter to control how long the AI must stay in the point to conquer it. The default time is to short and once they kill your time at the point there is not way to fight back. If you know how to increase that time please let me know! ;)
Thanks for your time
By the way, this system does not need mods. It is just a simple fix done using NotePad.
Again, if anyone knows stuff to make the game experience better in the same way, please share it here!
Devs, if you are listening, explain and work your cool AI. Not many games have what you have! Allow people to make it easier or harder in solo play. This will allow people to have confidence to play more your game. That will be great for devs and players ;)
By the way. Sure people who do not find AI difficult is because they have been playing for long time. But having an AI that is too good that looks like it is cheating is not helping the game.
There are free games now. If people find it too hard here they will go somewhere else, and that is bad for Insurgency. It will be easy to do something with the AI. Advertise it as a challenge and use it to differentiate from competitors. Or, allow to change it so people can modify it. Everyone new, will start with an easy mode and they will move up! Then we will have more people playing Insurgency ;)
Again people. If you can help me to find the parameter to make local matches to have longer time (greater than respawn) for the AI to conquer the point please let me know!
Enjoy this awesome game!
