It's not as military realism but I've really enjoyed playing Shatterline. The story/characters are well presented. Graphics are stellar. Doesn't take much storage space. Everything is unlockable through grinding so it's not a start pay-to-win. They have PvE with a randomly generated type environment as well as coop story missions. Low playerbase but it'd be cool to see that turn around.

Not too much else for drop-in PVE co-op unfortunately. I've been playing a lot of Escape From Tarkov with SPTarkov (a mod that makes it single-player), as it has a very healthy modding community. Just unfortunately doesn't come with co-op baked in, although I think there's a mod for that, too - just haven't tried it. Technically have to own EFT to play it however. Very fun.

There's another game I just saw on Steam called Incursion: Red River that might be worth looking at, but it also has extraction shooter elements.

Ground Branch and Ready or Not are both decent, too, but not nearly as arcade-y as Insurgency.

I really want the old Rainbow Six, or even R6 Vegas back...

tarkov but modded. tarkov has a very toxic society and now that the devs dont care or mind cheating cheaters or even other people using gamers to crypto mine the fans make a pve tarkov. the mod is easy and the game is so much fun too!! great shooter edge of your seat action like it used to be. Get good you say?? suck my ass I say, only way to get good is to fall into a server with good ping and also avoid cheaters, soooooooo. blow me, tarkov is dead, SPT lives on.

Its free and has 3th person and 1st person camera view, try out Caliber on steam! It has small missions you can do with up to 4 teammates vs ai.

It's really a shame that none of the similar games (ready or not, ground branch, etc) have really fulfilled what they could have been.

Ground branch is great but a bit rough around the edges.

Six days in fallujah is pretty much the same, but requires 3 communicating teammates to actually be fun.

Check out the Arma series (with mods like Antistasi), Six Days in Fallujah (early access), Ready or Not, Ground Branch (early access), Ghost Recon Wildlands & Breakpoint, and The Division series (if you don't mind looting game). There's also a promising upcoming PvE game called Incursion Red River, with a similar vibe to Escape from Tarkov, but its content is still limited (early access). I wouldn't say they are better than Insurgency, maybe you can see the gameplay or review first to decide which one suits you best.

DO NOT listen to these people. theres 3 servers that are amazing, they're operation servers. 24/7 operations pve. just hopped off, was an ongoing night operation, NVG and all. super customizable, any 2 guns you want and attachments too. EN.JOY.
