desert eagle or revolver as handgun?
I always wanted a high caliber handgun in the game, just thought it would be fun.
you could have 2 desert eagle variants to choose from (.44 magnum or .50 AE caliber)
having a revolver such as the pfeifer-Zeliska would be nice too.

I still like the idea of having some guns that are just meme guns in the game, they wont be used in serious games, but to have some stupid fun they would be great (like a Desert eagle, a stechkin APS or a full auto glock).

From a serious standpoint these guns would also make sense, because the insurgents range from armed thugs to special forces with everything between. So of course you will have posers among these that just want a high caliber pistol for show or have a simple old revolver, because they dont have anything else to begin with.

The other side of the spectrum would be people from the security side that have the money and the opportunity to get rare and expensive guns from different countries as a private gun that you are allowed to use in the military. Automatic pistols come to mind, pretty ineffective, but again for show-offs. The same goes for stuff like a Five-seven, .44 Magnum etc.

I can understand when people say "BUT MY REALISM", because these guns are no standard issued gun in a military sense, but with that standpoiint you also should be against machine pistols and pistol caliber main guns, because these arent used by front troops, but mostly for troops that most likely wont see any frontline combat (like medics, drivers, logistic troops etc), none of these are classes in the game and every class in the game should be bound to assault and battle rifles because of that. (not even to begin with a short barrel .50 cal sniper rifle or shotgun in general as a replacement for an ssault rifle).

I still want to see all these guns in the game, yes, they are stupid, yes, they arent really realistic to be there, but the game is about fun and using a big powerful handcannon or a bullethose is fun, silly, dumb fun, but still fun. I rather want a gun in the game i wont use than a gun that is not in the game but would be used for fun by people.

Seems lots of post asks for such guns. And yet none of one make sense.

Before devs considering adding those high caliber sidearms. We should answer this question first "Why do we need such weapons in current game?"

IRL, some special forces did use high caliber pistol for special purpose. Like GIGN adopted MR 73 .357 as "sniper" weapon in those situations that regular scoped rifles are too bulky or too powerful to use. And as I remember that GROM have some .357 Desert Eagle in their inventory.

So does this means we should add high caliber sidearms in game? I don't think so.

Adding such guns means adding a small semi-auto rifles into that slot. As the in game TTK is so low if you just want a hand cannon you could just pick M45/M1911, and no point for such powerful pistol.

High caliber pistol like Desert Eagle is just like full auto Glock 18 would break the purpose of sidearms in current game as a "backup" weapon. If you're a fan-boi for those things, just go play other games. I don't see any niche for such things in a tactical shooter like Insurgency: Sandstorm.

We have guns like welrod so they should add both revolver and deagle.

Welrod chambers with .32 acp, that thing is much weaker than normal 9mm.

+1,000
There's no practical use of these guns in military combat. Objectively, a high capacity, low recoil and low weight pistol would make a lot more sense. Something like the FN Five-SeveN would be a lot more useful, interesting and realistic.

1911 already serves the purpose. No one uses a desert eagle; its a showpiece. Revolver isn't practical; even with a speedloader. There are plenty of side arms already. I'd be more inclined to see lesser caliber smg type secondary weapons implemented instead

niche my butt, they go all the way to PS4 not to be a niche, but to reach everyone, and in order to be able to do that is to add more choices and customization, pffft I bet your game-time in the game not even reaching 200 hours.

Small caliber revolver like S&W Model 10 or Webley Mk IV would be nice in game as low-end sidearms. How ever I not sure about auto PDW for secondary weapons. Stechkin APS, Glock 18 will face the situation like Desert Eagle and other High caliber pistol/revolver being break the purpose as "secondary" weapon.

And some small caliber PDW like Vz.61 are much suitable as primary weapon like in game MP7.

Please, dear god, no. Two things I do not want to see in this game are the two most impractiacal pieces of range toys. Desert Eagles and full auto pistols.

I was thinking about revolvers earlier today, and honestly, even if it was a suppressed one, it would have limited use, and as much as I think the Welrod is hilarious, it is useless. There are some cool pistols out these days I'd like to see added. One is an old gun updated, a Tokerev with a double stacked 13 round magazine. The other a Brno 7.5 pistol, marketed to the military as a field pistol. It has a higher velocity projectile, with less recoil and jump than a .45, while retaining a decent magazine capacity.

We already have no-name insurgents toting AS Vals. And it's not even the Advisor class! The advisors should get the MP5s and Vals, the breachers the AKS-74U and, uh, the SKS.

I agree adding more content is needed.

However, adding more things does not always equal to bring more choices. It common in game development that devs killing gameplay diversity by adding wrong decision that community asked for.

After all most game community base players are irresponsible nowadays, and willing abandon freely once such things happen.
