Before devs considering adding those high caliber sidearms. We should answer this question first "Why do we need such weapons in current game?"
IRL, some special forces did use high caliber pistol for special purpose. Like GIGN adopted MR 73 .357 as "sniper" weapon in those situations that regular scoped rifles are too bulky or too powerful to use. And as I remember that GROM have some .357 Desert Eagle in their inventory.
So does this means we should add high caliber sidearms in game? I don't think so.
Adding such guns means adding a small semi-auto rifles into that slot. As the in game TTK is so low if you just want a hand cannon you could just pick M45/M1911, and no point for such powerful pistol.
High caliber pistol like Desert Eagle is just like full auto Glock 18 would break the purpose of sidearms in current game as a "backup" weapon. If you're a fan-boi for those things, just go play other games. I don't see any niche for such things in a tactical shooter like Insurgency: Sandstorm.
Nuff said
There's no practical use of these guns in military combat. Objectively, a high capacity, low recoil and low weight pistol would make a lot more sense. Something like the FN Five-SeveN would be a lot more useful, interesting and realistic.
niche my butt, they go all the way to PS4 not to be a niche, but to reach everyone, and in order to be able to do that is to add more choices and customization, pffft I bet your game-time in the game not even reaching 200 hours.
Don't cry boi..... I spend more time on tactical shooter like this game than you. I'm sure you that I reach more time than you do even in this game. Go back to play your COD:MW or CSGO and stop posting ♥♥♥♥ post like this one.
Small caliber revolver like S&W Model 10 or Webley Mk IV would be nice in game as low-end sidearms. How ever I not sure about auto PDW for secondary weapons. Stechkin APS, Glock 18 will face the situation like Desert Eagle and other High caliber pistol/revolver being break the purpose as "secondary" weapon.
And some small caliber PDW like Vz.61 are much suitable as primary weapon like in game MP7.
I was thinking about revolvers earlier today, and honestly, even if it was a suppressed one, it would have limited use, and as much as I think the Welrod is hilarious, it is useless. There are some cool pistols out these days I'd like to see added. One is an old gun updated, a Tokerev with a double stacked 13 round magazine. The other a Brno 7.5 pistol, marketed to the military as a field pistol. It has a higher velocity projectile, with less recoil and jump than a .45, while retaining a decent magazine capacity.
Hah here we go again, enjoy the thread everyone.
However, adding more things does not always equal to bring more choices. It common in game development that devs killing gameplay diversity by adding wrong decision that community asked for.
After all most game community base players are irresponsible nowadays, and willing abandon freely once such things happen.
