We're very exited to share more information about the Nightfall update and your community questions relating to it! :insfist:
P.S. Thanks for doing this! Love this game <3
For me personally, I'm looking forward to the new weapons and night equipment. For weapons, we've got some awesome stealthy options coming (some you might not expect!), and the night equipment really adds to our gunplay and mechanics, gives it a great tactical feel!
We talked a little about this in our most recent State of Production, our goal is to ensure that each of our free content updates has a strong theme, rather than a loose collection of items that are unrelated, this should enable us to market each update better and bring back lapsed players to the game. We also plan for our updates to be more consistent in the amount and type of content they include so that players knows what to expect - as well as releasing on a regular and predictable schedule.
As we scale up our team, we're planning for a lot more engagement with the community (via posts like this and our live streams) raising awareness of the updates further in advance and allowing us to reach fans who may not be following updates as closely as our active players.
A strong theme, clear content plan, and regularity of content will allow us to make each update more of an event, with much greater coverage from media, influencers, and creative output on our end.
Provided our internal testing goes well we are aiming for the end of this month.
Could you be more specific, which mechanics in particular? Sandstrom has been out for over a year now, we don't plan to drastically change any of the core mechanics unless there is significant evidence to suggest it would be beneficial or community demand for us to do so.
Our main goal is to refine, improve, and expand our existing core gameplay.
Q: Have you guys decided to do more military equipment for Insurgents and more civilian equipment for Security? I remenber that being an question in the most recent pool, have you guys decided yet?
We haven’t made a decision on that just yet, but I’ll say the survey answers were quite one sided on those questions!
There are always little tweaks to weapons with major updates. I imagine you want the nitty gritty details, but we aren’t ready to share those just yet.
My question is are you planning to add more camo/gear color options to the soldiers?
and maybe more voices & shouts etc since it really makes the game immersive. thanks!
Another question, but will we have a content update theme (aside from Nightfall) that will be co-op focused? As a PvP player I think we are pretty much getting all kinds of things. Co-op is still hanging around with a single gamemode to play (mutators excluded as they are not interesting nor major content. Hardcore also excluded as it is essentially checkpoint with a number of mutators too), bots with odd functionality, and recently the removal of technicals from co-op game modes. There needs to be more focus for the co-op community as they get left in the dark too much.
