What's with the nerfed weapons?
All the weapons feel almost the same to me , put on a scope and every gun becomes a sniper rifle, take out scope and every gun becomes close quarter weapon.

The sniper rifles are pretty much useless compared to any other guns due to their nerfed range

M24 Sniper rifle max range 169m ? really? its rated for 800m+
Mosin nagant 219m? shouldn't it be 500m+

Even an unaltered m16 has a max range of 179m in this game. Then why pick a bolt action?

Once I tried lying down taking a shot at the enemy at what should be 300m with an m24 only to see my bullet hit the dirt before it hits the target even when I'm at a height of 20m or so from the target.

Then the enemy fires back with his akm and boom headshot with an AK from a distance where the m24 can't reach??

I come from Insurgency 2 where all weapons were ray traced so the big scopes on the sniper rifles actually meant something even if the maps were tiny and their killing power made them very effective at what a sniper rifle should be.

with large maps in UE4 it should allow for far more range for a 20x20 km max map size limit

Also it doesn't help that there are no sight adjustments to elevate your aim.

what do you mean by to be useable?
That can't be max range. All shotgun ammo says 100m range yet I know for a fact a slug will hit past 100m.

In game. An M24 bullet hitting dirt from 300m does sound way off though.

what do you mean by to be useable?


I should of rephrased that for Players vs Bots.
On Players vs Bots it isn't worth using compared to a semi-auto. You can engage multiple targets with a SVD or M14. It's just really inefficient.

I'm assuming the bolt actions are mainly for player vs player games? It needs a bunch of upgrades in order to be decent. Even after using the accessories other choices might be better.

It's a great weapon to build up some tracking skills/confidence with though.

Try it , set tracers and fire from a high enough location and watch as the tracer hits the ground before 300m

I believe you I'm just saying it sounds way off from real life. It should only be between 10-20 inches below point of aim at that distance with a typical 100m zero.
I did some testing with the bolt actions and they were leaving bullet holes in walls almost 400m away. The bullet drop was still substantially more than it would be in real life but when you used the long barrel both rifles dropped probably about 3 feet at nearly 400m. I don't think fictionalizing the bullet drop for game balance is really necessary since there are so few opportunities to engage at such far distances. 400m is far enough for bolt actions to no longer be a 1 shot body kill so headshots should be easier.

I could be mistaken but I could of sworn the devs said they had not impimented bullet drop on all guns yet. Sniper rifles have it and assault rifles don't for the time being.

How could you say something so stupid? UE4 is a mess, plenty of products take a LOT of fixing to be playable, You're talking about a game that has serious optimization issues with what, max 1 km2 maps? Are you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nuts? Ever played Squad?

Also it's not a milsim game, want 20km x 20km? Go play ArmA dude.

Devs said new engine version (4.20) is going to improve performance a lot. PuBG had better framerates after Bluehole went to UE 4.2v.

Plus, TWI, also mentioned that they haven't introduced proper LOD system of something like that, yet.

oh wow look an edgy guy who thinks he knows what he's talking about hence calling people stupid.

UE4 is not a mess, I work with UE4 too so don't talk ♥♥♥♥ about things you don't understand yet. you need to be able to use it properly , it takes time sure but its the most stable and feature rich engine out there. NWI has just switched to it from source in Insurgency2 so that might be a issue as well.

Haven't you played insurgency 2? compared to that sandstorm has gigantic maps, so the guns should scale accordingly . If everything else is upto scale why not the gun ranges?

Why does an m16 has longer range than a m24 sniper rifle?

No idea. They said that they make the transition before game release/during beta. Apart from that, there was no more info on this topic.
