There's an "easy" fix for most of the replay shenanigans, which is basically to just rebind all the keys. Some other issues require different solutions, though:
- Mousewheel is better suited for replay speed, not camera speed IMO. Camera Speed increases and decreases by holding the keybind, not just pressing it, so while the mousewheel will allow you to finetune the camera speed, it's incredibly annoying to spam the scrollwheel on that ♥♥♥♥♥ to actually change the camera speed somewhat quickly.
- Don't have any Replay binds on the Left or Right Mouse buttons. It will only piss you off. Note that changing the "Next Player" keybinds will also affect Spectator mode in-game.
- If you want to spectate one player and he dies, you will automatically follow his perspective again once he respawns as long as you don't click anything.
- To skip to a different part of the match, make sure you pause the replay first; otherwise it won't actually work despite looking like it does.
-----> On a similar note, whenever you skip to a different part of the Replay, wait a few seconds before hitting any other keys. I've had an issue where my next input essentially gets locked up (i.e. I hit Forward right after skipping and the input gets locked to Forward until I hit the Forward keybind again). Enter is the default key for starting/stopping a Replay, so whenever you want to skip to a different part, hit Enter, click where you want to go, wait a few seconds, and then hit Enter again. Shouldn't cause any problems that way.
- If you view a Replay for long enough, your performance might start dropping. Restarting the Replay and/or the game entirely should resolve the issue.
- To make sure what you're seeing is what actually happened, skip to around 20-30 seconds before whatever you're interested in. As an example, if an enemy smoke grenade went off at 2:00 and you start watching from 1:55, the smoke will not render. Another issue that's very obvious is on Checkpoint matches; if any caches have been blown up during that match, they will re-blow up every time you skip ahead of whenever those caches were destroyed.
All in all, the Replay system is a buggy mess, but if you work around the issues with the system it at least functions correctly, which is better than how it used to be.
killcam have no place in this game
