Is 73 degrees ok for cpu playing this?
Ryzen 5 5600x
rtx 3070
16gb ram

Using stock cooler for now. Just wondering if its normal for everything on highest settings 1440p 144fps. Thanks.

Also your PC will prob shut itself down before even reaching those temps to protect itself

Stock ryzen coolers are decent enough, mine's holding pretty well (I have the stock 2700X one tho instead, but same idea), so I wouldn't worry too much. If you're still worried you can increase your fan speeds above it's base values to get a couple degrees cooler if you wish :lunar2019piginablanket:

Thanks that was much appreciated.

You're well under AMD's max temp of 95c, so good to go for gaming on a stock cooler.

If you're really concerned about temps. you could enter the BIOS and find the Vcore (Core Voltage) and change it from AUTO to 1.2v. Then change your CPU clock speed from AUTO to 4.5Ghz, save changes and reboot.

Depending on the rest of your configuration, you might lose a little in performance but the temps should remain the lowest they can be on the stock cooler.

You're below the generally accepted threshold of 90 degrees Celsius so you're fine. If you're really worried about it though you can play around in the BIOS or buy an aftermarket cooler (I recommend Noctua) for roughly $60.
amd ryzen gen 4 has higher operating temps than previous gen ryzen and of course intel, from what i have gathered
my 5800x also runs quite warm, around 70-80 under load most of the time, so i would say it is acceptable

Don't do that if you have no clue about undervolting. Every processor has a different quality. it's hard to guess the perfect voltage/clock-speed ratio right. Running the CPU close to max boost while "undervolting" might lead to unstable performance. If you want to undervolt the CPU you should do it stepwise and always run (short) stresstests after your adjustments.

73 under load (well, as much of a 'load' as sandstorm is) isn't bad, especially on stock cooler.

I'd only really worry if your idle temps were higher than 60c or your load temps were hitting sustained temps upwards of 80c without at LEAST 70% cpu utilization.

stock cooler ?Why????Even decent coolers are dirt cheap.

as long as it works its fine

AMDs are (or at least were) known to get a bit hotter than intels in the first place. Fact that you are using stock cooler contributes too. Also games on Unreal engine are kinda known to do that too, especially with all settings maxed out and etc.

You are fine. But I would say that getting a new cooler would be a good decision, there are some really cheap, but good ones.

Stock are largely underrated. Most people who replace them have no idea what they're doing, and some alternative models are worse than stock. Unless you're doing some really wacky stuff, you'll be more than fine most of the time, otherwise just go for water-cooling if you can.

Wraith Stealth is not bad really (that's what 5600X is shipping with iirc)

And Wraith Prism/Max are often better than your "dirt cheap" coolers tbh (shipping with R7-3700X, etc.).

73C on what utilization?

the game is at about 20% utilization max on my end. considering you have 4 cores less different gpu and resolution which means about 25-30% util on your end?
Seems pretty high to me but I don't know much about ryzen and how it does in this game.

73 degrees for a 5600x is normal. This CPU goes really high, and it's made this way, higher than the 3000 generation. And with your stock cooler, regular temperature, so don't worry.

I've legit seen prebuilts where the assembler yoinks the Wraith coolers in favor of a cheapo aluminum intel-stock-looking coolermaster cooler on Ryzen chips.
Not sure what they end up using the wraiths with, but the fact that the SIs are using something else for cost efficiency is rather telling regarding how good the wraiths actually are.
Either because they are actually buying the cpus without the coolers because the coolers are actually more expensive than a cheapo, or because they are yoinking said coolers for a more 'high-end' system.
