Well, you guys finally achieved what you wanted. The devs completely wasted their time and money creating DLC skins that they can no longer sell. Well done. Now instead of having a monetization strategy that completely doesn't affect people who never intended to purchase them... they will have to implement something a bit more invasive... because they have to get paid somehow.

All our in-game customization seems to be reset and locked. I wouldn't blame the devs one bit if they decide to make those purchasable with real money only as a result of this. That's what I would do out of spite anyway. Followed by real money only DLC guns that are better in every way compared to free guns. Maybe premium ammunition too that does more damage. That's so much better for us than them selling those skins isn't it?

if you take a look at the feedback on twitter reddit and here, its clear that there were no other way to go.

the whole paid dlc thing isnt that nice, but if it helps to keep the company and the game alive im ok with it. i want to support them, because i love the game, but i cant if the added stuff goes against the artstyle and destroys the cool immersion this game has.

its the right decision atleast in my opinion.

Lmao, this isn't going to bankrupt NWI, their bad decisions are, they should create DLC the community actually wants. That way they will make money, if they keep making bad DLC, they're not gonna any money.

this. "completely doesn't affect people who never intended to purchase them" is not true, those terrible fortnite tier cosmetics would have ruin the immersion and authentic middle eastern war theme even more. insurgents in a game called insurgency that is sold as "war at its realest" should look like actual insurgents not fortnite cosplayers.

First of all, those cosmetics were intended to be free. Secondly, they should've seen it coming, had they simply made any kind of cosmetics that fit the game setting, many people would have gladly paid for it.

I'm complicit in the reality that they need to make money off of us... unlike most people stuck in the fantasy that the devs owe us all these "free" updates they've been making since release.

Oh please. This game's theme is as authentic as the meat in a vegan burger. The immersion and authenticity of this game is solely in the amazing weapon handling and sound design. I'd run around in a pink dress-shirt and golden pantaloons if I could and it wouldn't change jack about the game. Actually no; it would make me smile more often. Watch some war tapes if you want to see what a modern middle-eastern conflict actually looks like.

early versions of sandstorm had an authentic atmosphere, insurgents and security clothing looked like what actual insurgents and military uses in war, the game was 100% authentic beef until devs started adding soy ingredients like red camo and skull masks and other ridiculous cosmetics turning sandstorm into a fantasy war shooter veggie burger.

if immersion didn't come from cosmetics then there wouldn't be any negative feedback.

You complain about people "complaining" that fortnite-esque skins dont fit the game's setting.

Plus the cosmetics were said to be free, so they do not make money from it. They might aswell just sell those assets to other game companies, win-win for everyone
