Headset mic not working

My mic works in all other apps and games except insurgency sandstorm. When i click to talk i see my name come up on bottom left corner indicating that i am speaking but no one can hear me.

Did you try to manage your settings in Steam (Friendslist top right, settings, tab left "voice")? It's sometimes messed up for whatever reason. Try to set a push-to-talk bind, too. It's working without for me, but maybe it helps.

i have tried push to talk as well and still wont work. Lets say i open CS GO. Windows 10 detects that it is using the microphone and shows a mic icon in windows task bar but insurgency it does not

I Do not

I just launched insurgency sandstorm again. I saw the microphone icon in the windows task bar but then it dissapeared instantly

When you're in the game press Alt + Enter.

Press Windows + R then type "mmsys.cpl" and hit Enter.

Press the Recording tab.

Is the bar for your mic moving?

What happens if you're ingame and you go to Steam > Friendlist > Settings > Voice - do you hear yourself if you click on "Mic testing"? (click on "push-to-talk" and bind a key/mousebutton to it you use in Insurgency as well).

not moving

i did a voice recording in windows and it was able to hear the recording no issue

but the bar is not moving

Hmm ... strange. So

- your driver is updated
- the mic device is standard device
- you see it active in the sound-device-manager while playing
- you can hear yourself in the Steam-voice-settings while testing your mic
- you bind a PTT key to Steam and Insurgency (the same)
- you see your mic/name popping up while ingame, but no voice
- you can record with that mic while out of the game

So out of the blue:
- restart computer
- deactivate all other sounddevices
- deactivate all overlays
- deactivate all other soundapps
- deactivate all other programs, using sound
- start Steam as admin
- start game, test

- if novoice, reinstall (delete userfolder)
- if that doesn't help, call support

Ah, one thing I remember from some time ago: Try to deactivate the voice-beeps and try again.

And another one: If you're on nVidia, bring up the overlay, try to set your mic there, see if it is blocked somehow, wrong activation, wrong keybinding etc.
