How to join modded servers

Hey guys, last night two friends and I were hopping into online servers for some COOP action vs bots, and saw a few with interesting modes/maps. Tried to join them and was told we weren't logged into mod.io.

All of us logged in and registered accounts to mod.io in the main menu and still couldn't connect to these servers. Does it not just download the modded content for you when joining a server if you're logged in?

Do we have to manually go and download any mods and maps just to play custom servers while being logged into mod.io?

Why not just do it through the steam workshop like the first game? :\

If you are logged into mod io and join a server that has mods you haven't downloaded it will automatically download them. If you subscribe to the mods you want to it will automatically download them when you start Sandstorm. Not sure why it didn't work for you last night. Maybe you needed to restart the game or something. Does it work today?

same thing for me, i can't play any modded servers. i am logged in and subscribe, i do the same thing my friends do and still can't play modded servers. I even subscribed to them on Mod.io it self with an account, still no go. I left a ticket in Mod,io and i have had no response for over 2 weeks.

this is what i left for them:

When i play Sandstorm, my Mods do not download. It indicates to log into Mod.io in the main menu. I do that and still will not download the mods. I have screen shots of a friend doing it and it appears that i am doing it correctly. I have also signed into Mod.io website and subscribed to the mods there. I have no idea what i am doing wrong. I checked my Anti-virus and can't see it blocking it. Any ideas for this would be great. Thanks

Will do, the game from what I can tell has a low playercount, why they'd make it harder for people to play by going through these extra steps is beyond me. Why not just integrate workshop support?

Not sure but i wish Mod.io would give me an answer. 3 people received the message but no reply. If i find anything out i will also update you, thanks for your reply back.

So I just gave it another shot, I'm logged in, I activated the account, I even subscribed to Insurgency Sandstorm in the game on the widget available for it. Restarted my game each time, and double checked to see I was logged in.

Nothing has worked, I still can't join any modded servers. Hope someone can post a solution not just for me but for anyone else who's dealing with this.

just to update you. i uninstalled the game, deleted my app data, also there is no "mods" folder in my game file. i reinstalled the game on a different drive, still no mods, i turned off anti-virus and firewall, still won't download the mods, sorry i still don't have a solution yet.

Thanks for the update, I've given up on it for now, and am playing other games :\. Might just settle with the prior plan and playing with friends every once in a blue moon.

Shame too because we'd play a lot more if we had access to the coop content. Hope someone can find a solution for this issue.

Under your profile on Mod IO click edit and scroll down to see if your stream is connected. If it isn't link the two. No clue on if this will help.

Yes my steam account is connected in the Mod.io profile. Thanks very much for the info. Still won't download the mods.

GeeNo: I have an update for you. After trying several things i finally got it to download. I had my main steam program folder on C: drive and Sandstorm on D:. I uninstalled Steam from C: and reinstalled it on D:. I also uninstalled sandstorm again and reinstalled after reinstalling steam. Also i had a program that changed the library UI back to the old one. I did not reinstall that. The Mods are now updating as per everyone else. So if this helps let me know, it was a pain in the butt to figure out but if it helps you and others it was worth it. Any other questions let me know,

Ah interesting, my Sandstorm and Steam are on the same drive, but I am using the old Steam UI as I was never a fan of the new one. To be honest I'd prefer my old UI to playing Sandstorm mods at the moment, but I'm glad there's a common denominator here. Hope anyone with this issue finds this thread, great work :D

i am not excatly sure what did the trick, whether it was moving the steam and sandstorm to the same drive or the old ui since the old ui folder was removed with the uninstall if steam. But we had the old UI library in common but i'm sure there are lots that have that. thanks for leaving the thread up just in case. Cheers

I left my Community test server on my F: drive, it now downloads the mods, It didn't before either so far i think it might be the old library ui
