Alternatives to Sandstorm?

I have played this game for a while, but I'm not very happy with the arcadey direction the devs are going with it. There are even rumors they're downgrading it as well, so I'm leaving. Are there any other games that are like what this one was supposed to be?
(I have squad and hell let loose already, I'm not asking about this particular genre)

There is no real alternative because its very specific game.

Don't listen to rumors. It was said specifically that PC version will not be downgraded. For alternatives, there is really no other game that will give you such an experience like ISS.

Tbh, there's no other real alternative, thoguh, closest you can get is prolly the new COD's realism mode. That's about it really, but be aware that it's still COD..

have you play Precinct in coop they removed the bots... what about vehicles... the maps are more barren then they use to be...

Yeah, AI is bugged on that map, devs are aware of it (at least for coopHC). What about vehicles? The removed them from mods where they caused problems. They even said they didn't want to pull them but had to, so in essence they didn't want to do it (as you can see they left vehicles in modes where they didn't cause problems).
As for maps please provide pictoral evidence of before and after. I didn't see any graphical reduction in game but then I don't track those things (too busy playing the game)

This one sucks, way worse maps, performs like trash for a lot of people, weak amount of content (low amount of game modes and currently only 10 maps, some of which are ripped form the last game ), bugs since release not fixed, no access to workshop or another "decent" mod hosting site (mod.io is trash, change my mind), slow as hell updates where as the last game is still being supplemented by community content, the list goes on...

The most this game has to offer over the last is character customization (insurgency: barbie dress up forces ), commander call ins, techies, and the ones you mentioned...

Because I'm enjoying other games at the moment, is that a problem?

Not sure how telling me to " GO BACK TO INS2" is relevant to helping OP find another game similar to this one but ok

Original Insu is the closest alternative, other close bets are: BF3 Hardcode mode infantry only maps (basically dead, no servers), COD MW Realism which is weirdly available only in certain modes for limited periods... CONCLUSION: there are NO real alternatives, I personally still wait for some modders to make small maps in SQUAD, that would be pretty good alternative.
