It doesn't imo, for several reasons. The pump actions hit surprisingly hard in Sandstorm, and the power they have shouldn't be available in semi auto form. The shotguns we have play a role as cheap, but fairly reliable weapons even out to mid range. Semi autos would have to be far more expensive to be balanced, but at that point, no one would use them over the more expensive rifles. If they were cheaper, they'd be a no brainer, and you'd be a fool not to take them.

If the power was reduced for balance, they'd be weak as hell, and never used over the pump actions, or rifles, so that's not really an answer either.

They'd have made sense in the previous game, where the pump actions were weak as ♥♥♥♥, and pretty much required slugs to be at all useable, but at that point, you were better off spending your points on an M16 with AP, which cost only slightly more, if not the same.

Where do you change ammo types on rifles? I didn't know that was an option.

It's not about preference. It's about balance. I'd be keen for semi auto shotguns if they could be balanced well, but as the game is now, they couldn't be. You can't change ammo types in Sandstorm, you could in the previous game. I was using it as an example of how bad shotguns were in the previous game.

It could be easily balanced. Have you ever used a semi auto shotgun? There are many ways in which to make this work.

We are. I mentioned how semi auto shotguns would have worked in the previous game and gave an example as to why. I have not used a semi auto shotgun, but I understand game balance, and they wouldn't be able to be well balanced here. If they could be, give some examples as to how.

I ain't hijacking the thread, I'm putting my opinion out there, with reasons. Just because you don't like me now that I called you out on your silly buggery in your thread doesn't mean I'm hijacking every thread that you agree with.

I never said he can't think a semi auto would be nice. I actually agree, but I also recognise that it wouldn't work within the game's balance. Ironic how you whinged that someone in your thread doesn't understand game balance, and yet you seem to not understand it yourself.

The existing shotguns are overpowered. A semiauto shotgun would be wildly OP.

This game does shotguns justice I'd be down with a semi shotty.

Its still limited to 8 shells and you have to load each one manually instead of just slapping a new 20-30 round magazine in.
