M60 would be nice too maybe. Lower fire rate to make it different. And maybe more rounds but fewer ammo boxes to carry.

You fired one MG42/MG3 in video games, you fired them all. One thing that bugs me about the LMGs in this game is that the recoil when un-mounted is absolutely ridiculous. This will be fine for the MG3 because you literally cannot fire it from the hip with anything even close to resembling accuracy. (see video below)
The M249 however needs to be toned down big time. With no ammo the 249 is just over twice as heavy as a standard M4 with a loaded 30rnd mag. They use the same ammo, the 249 when fired in short bursts should have less recoil than an M4. It makes absolutely no sense that the PKM is more controllable than the 249 when un-mounted. I understand there has to be balance, but the recoil on the 249 is just plain silly. The PKM is right around where it should be. You see them being used pretty much as sniper rifles in a lot of the footage coming out of the middle east.
Start at 4:40 (Volume warning) Does this guy look like he's struggling to control the the gun? Not to me, sure he has to put some effort into it but the way it is in the game makes it seem like we just have boneless spaghetti arms or something.

I guess you're right. You've got a way different perspective from me, I've never fired a lot of guns in games and Insurgency has the most variety I've played with. Though, between 2 games I've felt how guns can be the same and also in certain titles very very different. Insurgency has particularly slow feeling reload animations and between the previous title and sandstorm, the same guns are used differently and on larger maps.
I think the easiest to implement would be the RPK (mg version of AK) and the MG36 (mg version of G36) since their basic rifle parts are already in the game. Other than that the M60 as ppl already mentioned would be good. Or how about the M27 IAR with 100rnd drum mag.
The drum was pouring out water
ooooh yeah there's also that one too
Am wondering if they'll put the Galil into the Gunner class as well. Since there was galil files found in the game folder. Also since Gunners had access to galil in first insurgency.
yes, you can use the galil in local play with the admin menu. The gunners had access to them because they had 35 rounds in the standard magazine, and a 50 round drum mag, which made them a nice hybrid between an assault rifle and lmg.
Rpk for Insurgents and M27 iar or U-100 for Security.
