a BF5 style auto-move the observer player to rifleman after a few minutes of inactivity/ignoring orders. Or a straight server-kick?
If you're gonna have a bang on about something, you better come with a suggestion to fix it as well...
Maybe commanders should be able to send a page that displays on onscreen icon to observers if they are a certain distance away and havent just spawned in. (That way, it can only be sent to observers who are forgetting to aid the commander)
Perhaps some unlock award bonuses for being an observer who helps a commander get kills.
I know it's special treatment for the given class, but it could serve as an incentive for the new players who want unlocks.
Perhaps the following points should be kept track of (in dead or endgame screen)
Kills : Deaths : Objectives : Fire Support Kills (The commander and the observer involved gets the fire support kill points)
edit: Perhaps kills should be confirmed when done by fire support. (If I remember correctly, assassin, the helicopter pilot confirms her kills already. Maybe observers should be immediate feedback when firesupport gets a kill.)
To put you cheeky boy in to place, I can tell you that it doesnt take me more than a few seconds to get an idea..
My idea would be a reward system. Means that if observers stay within 2-4 meters in reach of the commander, they keep getting a hella lot of points for that, which would help them a lot with levelling up. This would as well balance out the frustration of not getting any kills by standing in the back with the commander.
My second idea would simply be that observers indeed spawn at the commander location and simply get kicked and for the time of the match banned from entering the role IF the commander decides so.
My third idea would be a mandatory tutorial in combination with a strict point and penalty system if observers either stick or stay away from the commander for too long. i.e getting no points for kills and capturing IF not within the zone of the commander.
PLENTY of options. Sometimes just turn on the brain and let it work for u.
Remember America's Army? They had the combat lifesaver class, which was tasked with reviving wounded players. I loved playing that role, because even though it meant I got fewer kills, I did get XP for the revives - i.e. I got rewarded for playing the role properly. If Observers gained XP for being within tether distance when the Commander needed them, along with XP for the support called in by the Commander, then people would be incentivized to play it properly. Does anybody know if that's already the case and people just aren't aware of it?
Edit: in too late, I guess, but I think we all make the same good point.
Good for you. Should have just included them in your first post instead of having a grand ol' whinge.
Why should. I am not here to do the dev's work.
But what have you come up with so far? So far you are just bashing and wasting my time, instead throw in some ideas mate.
Already did, besides... you posted the original topic, so you simply could have added your ideas in the post in the first place. Devs already have plenty on their plate. If you give them constructive criticism they might actually take more notice of your post.
You might not be here to do the devs job, but if you're going to criticise a game for a problem without offering a few solutions... how do you expect the devs to do anything about it?
I have offered plenty of solutions. Do your reading.
Well, I think I stick to the " Don't feed the troll " rule for now.
Also i want to say to commanders that if there are two of you and only one observer, please dont say later that observer suck cause he didn't follow your orders. Maybe he plays with another commander and in that case you should stick to them.
You are a rare kind, I share your logic though. I feel the same.
In general I feel being Observer is rewarding as it massively supports the team, and nothing is as priceless as having his nick portrayed at the end of the match as best supportive role, as THIS is what makes the real difference in a match.
I wish Observers would get a completely own new set of different weapons.
I would love that...but I guess their argument against this is that it wouldn't be " teamwork ".
They took the whole observer commander concept from Rising Storm 2. I never liked this concept nor is it working in RS2.
