Why can't I play this game offline?
There's a single player mode in the game against AI but I can't play it when my internet connection goes down. The original Insurgency had it, why not this one? Is it because of the progression system? Why not just disable it in offline mode? It's not like you're going to look at your own cosmetics in an FPS game.

Would be nice to get this and for local LAN as well for PvE and PvP.

If the ai is addressed (imo, it needs some tweaking), then i can see myself playing this for some time yet.

The progession system is only active on Competitive as far as im aware.

PS: What kind of Nugget are you. The sort that gold miners find or the sort that gets me kicked of the bus for wiping it on the seat?

I played the original for hours on end without internet connection and it was my go to FPS as a result. I need an offline mode to fall back on, and it really sucks because Sandstorm is a massive improvement over the first one and makes it hard to go back. Even if there wasn't any LAN, the fact that I cannot play the game the moment the servers are down or something leaves me feeling cheated, especially as there was no reason to assume that it would have always-online restrictions.

PS: The ketchup-dipped kind.

I assume that always online even for local play is currentlyabout anti-cheat more than drm or some such.

Once the game dies off or the 3rd (hopefully) InSurg is announced, im sure the devs will hook us up.

Honestly, no devs ever bother with that. Though I'm not sure how having a separate offline section for those not connected to the internet allows for cheating.

If playing against bots by yourself, earning no XP, not leveling up and not customizing your character sounds like a lot of fun, have you considered Sim City 2000?
GuineaTigg Jan 5, 2019 @ 11:07pm
Its purely because of the exp system and cosmetic unlocks since they are tied to online rather than your own pc file's.

Maybe they will create a work around but this is the actual reason, nothing to do with drm or piracy protection

FPS against bots is just fun to jam out to or even keep your reflexes fresh.

Dont act like you dont.

It would be nice to hear confirmation on this front from the devs.

@Vacuumbots: Not sure what that's supposed to mean. Are you saying that if I like being able to play offline when I don't have internet, I don't like FPS games for some reason?

Internet is everywhere, literally half the planet's population is now connected. And half the fun of fighting bots is to respawn your team back from the brink of defeat. Honestly aside from greasy net cafe owners who are too cheap to buy legit copies, I can't see the average gamer caring about these features, like good luck calling in anything as a commander, and when you consider the massive list of missing features from map vote to a working mute button, just purely guessing but this must come near dead last on the devs to do list, if at all. Like who runs a dedicated server just so they can play with themselves? Like I am relatively antisocial and even for me it's like dude just play some coop.
Or Maybe try the Killing Floor series or Payday if that's your thing 🍺

Firstly, I'm not going to lug my tower computer to a Starbucks to play one video game in the event that my internet goes down.
Second, people lose connection all the time, largely thanks to ♥♥♥♥♥♥ service providers that overcharge and underserve, and also because that's a thing that happens even on the best day. As someone who has apparent knowledge of planet Earth, you should probably know that.
Also, just for fun and since it is a pet peeve of mine, you should know that anti-social refers to people who seek to actively harm people and society, not keep to themselves. Asocial is what you (hopefully) meant. Not that you probably cared to know, but then I didn't care for your opinion on what game I should be playing instead of the one I want to.

Ya, in single player story driven games like Doom or Wolfenstein

singleplayer people are not welcome.

I wish I could join with a clan, place bots, practice tactics and nadespots etc.

Hey you're right thanks for the psychology factoid but don't blame me that the entire developed world regards internet as a basic utility, bundled with their phone at the cost of three to five hours of minimum wage labout. Like six year olds are expected to have it to do homework and not to point out the blatantly obvious but you're on the internet right now. If you have a phone with data chances are you can make it an internet hotspot. Good luck!
