How about the option to disable backpacks or at least make them invisible? i think they look really ugly and i whish for an option to play without them

i see your point, realism is an important part of the game, yet i think we should be given the option to make them invisible for ourselves, like a weapon skin mod in the former insurgency :)

Thats unrealistic. And besides, if you want extra ammo but don't have a backpack for said ammo, then where do they go huh?

Ammo should be inside their vest/ammo bandolier correct me if im wrong. You dont go to war and put your ammo inside a backpack unless you're ammo carrier that gives your team ammo on the battlefield

Equiping those huge backpack that only give you 3 extra ammo doesnt seem right to me and it should fit more than that.It looks silly tho, like you goin on a camping trip lol.I would prefer vest instead

Im not hating,it just funny to see my teamates running around with those on lol

Yeah you do have good point here.

The backpacks can help with team identification. Black backpacks are worn by insurgents, tan backpacks are worn by security. They look heavy and uncomfortable though, maybe something else can be done.

Well according to my mate who's in the army. You can't put ammo on the front of your vest, as you sometimes need to lie down/prone. So that only leaves the sides. The front would only be used in Urban situations (SWAT etc).

However he did agree that it's not realistic to be able to reach INTO your bag to reload that quick. So maybe they are on the sides of the bags ? If so there should be animations to show this.

You're right, it could make you uncomfortable and difficult in a prone situation.I'm not in the army so i couldnt tell how their equipment slot works.

Either the sides of your packs or maybe inside your pockets you know, like a little pouch for ammo around you thigh.

It just a game anyway, screw the logic right?

I like the hexagonal drink botte
KimchiFeet Dec 27, 2018 @ 3:41am
well I always thought wearing a large backpack for more ammo was stupid and not realistic at all as a former marine
毘沙門天 Dec 27, 2018 @ 3:48am
i guess what we in essence want is an option to make them at least invisible without having to cut back on ammo. maybe the see this thread and make it an option so people who like backpacks can keep them while the others can play without them

I don't see the point of people taking heavy carriers with them (except maybe the demo guy) if you most likely will be dead by your 5th mag.

has there been any talk about removing backpacks? theyre unreallistic. you dont carry a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sack on your back unless youre a medic and thats your kit. maybe a combat engineer thats carrying det cord n ♥♥♥♥, or a commo rep thats carrying manpack. basic soldiers do not carry around a light ruck or an assault pack when expecting to attack/be attacked.

having that ♥♥♥♥ poke out of cover youre trying to hide behind is such a pain in the ass
IRL american combat doctrine is to carry ammunition (6 mags/120 rds of which is considered a relatively light combat load) on your belt, not the vest or backpack, and to stash the backpack (which should only have non-combat-essential gear) somewhere safe for combat situations, especially in CQB scenarios like most of this games maps. It slightly makes sense for rocket guys to maybe carry extra rockets in a backpack, but grenades are usually also in belt or vest pouches. Notice how the cover art/background image guys have no packs.

i currently serve army and was in a combat role for 3 years. 6 mags on your VEST and 1 in your weapon is a basic combat load.
we dont use any belt attachments and we dont roll around with backpacks. unless necessary when dismounted from a vehicle or i.e. somebody like a combat engineer whos got cord/tube/initiators/ect when urban breaching with demo..which is rare

i just wanna reply to bump this thread and beg for the feature. Its a simple thing to add.
