SVD is seriously op
1 shot 1 kill semi auto dmr at majority of the ranges recoil isn't much and it's pretty cheap
you can get light equipment and light kevlar too and smokes if you're pushing or pistol with quick draw and 2 classes can get this gun.

Now before you go DAE REALSTIC GAME, I should add on it's still a video game and it needs balace.


EDIT: Maybe atleast lock it to marksman class only

In case you haven't noticed: All the weapons in insurgency hurt a lot, so this is perfectly fine.


What I do agree on, is that the SVD shouldn't be available for so many classes. That does feel a bit weird.
Sorry to make another RO 2 reference on these forums but during the game's launch the dev's messed up one balance patch that unlocked mkb 42 assault rifle (basically a early version of STG44/MP44) to 3 different character classes that could have multiple players on each class (the weapon was supposed to be for only 1-2 players on the axis side) but this accident lead to situations where the soviet team would get dominated hard by a german army, where most of its soldiers where armed with assault rifles against people with bolt actions and smg's...so i think that limiting the svd to 2 people would balance it out

yeah, I forgot to include it, I don't see it often cuz it's expensive and some players would only want to go for 4x with dmrs sometimes

Well MK14 being so powerful makes sense. and SVD as well, what does not make sense is that the insurgents can get up to 5 SVDs while Security is limited a 2. They should seriously lower it, it's insane.

They increased recoil on all weapons during the beta and it wasnt good. They had to decrease it again.

They have also removed long barrels from the game so its been nerfed more than you know lol.

every weapon is just as viable as another given the correct circumstances, all weapons are deadly, all weapons are pretty well balanced (lmgs need less free aim recoil but thats not really relevent)

FAL on insrugents side have a very good automatic firerate - t 698 rpm, have 20 rounds in a magazine, have less recoil, have higher velocity and 424 vs 428 SVDs pentration power. so it have tha same one bullet damage with SVD. Oh, i forgot that FAL is cheaper for one point in competitive. So SVD is a useless crap.

There is nothing OP about 7.62x54, it hits like a freight train and should.
svds are a more 'crutchy' weapon but i think an underlying issue is that why the frick do 7.62x51mm rounds have to /two hit/ people at some times and then /one hit/ at some other times

and no, a spreadsheet wouldn't help
we need someone to do some intensive testing because its boggling my mind


no someone actually needs to legit test the htk consistency between the m14, scar h, fal and g3. it's gotten so weird to the point where i've legit took my time to land a chest shot, and they die in one hit with some guns (namely m14 and fal although m24 could def. do this) while in other cases i've (also) taken my time to land a precise shot to the chest and they dont die in 1 hit (g3 specifically)


and no you cant say anything about armor because i've basically experienced this inconsistency with people wearing light armor and heavy armor.

no armor players basically melt to 7.62x51 in a hit (except for scar h iirc) and unlike 20 inch 5.56

A rifle firing full sized rifle round is gonna pack a punch aka one shot kill. And SVD is not that effective in CQB so its only advantage is long range combat. I dont see how SVD is OP?

Indeed it needs balance and that is exactly why they do kill with 1 good hit.

If they needed 2, you could just use an assault rifle instead which would be much easier to handle.
