Gun Customization Ideas: Remove Iron Sights w/ Scope Attached
Especially on guns like the M4A1, having the iron sights that are near the barrel of the gun take up the bottom part of the scope when zooming in which I find incredibly annoying. I also prefer the aesthetic look of the gun in general (no iron sights when a scope is equipped).

On the G36K and G3A3 it would also make a good difference to not have those iron sights when looking through a scope.

Removing the sights from those guns is very hard but a solution could be to use a riser which would take up more of your aunaimed screen space but allot you to see the full scope aimed.

That front iron sight is apart of the gas block. Sure removing it is possible but it isn't usually done as soldiers always have irons incase their optics break/fail/run out of battery, and millitaries don't usually stock low profile gas blocks, just the stock ones.

True, the front sight on the M4 and M16 can't be taken off since they're key to the weapon's functioning.
There was a PMAG mod for Insurgency 2 which also made the front sight into a simple gas block when optics were equipped.

I was not aware those iron sights weren't removable for those reasons. Very interesting. Still, it could be done.

This. I always hate how the AR-15 model rifles' front sights block part of your view when using 1x scopes and such. So bumping up the position of your optics could be a nice fix. Then again, it might not be very authentic? I don't know but either way, i'm hoping this at least becomes a mod once the workshop is opened up.

im pretty sure everything about scopes and visibility is part of balancing.

Co witness can mean that the sights are not directly on the dot. Usually just want to have them visible through the lower portion.

Hey man, as long as they block less of my view, i'm in.

its almost as if the AR-15 was and still is an awful family of rifles.

Both of these comments are completely debatable.

7.62 and above ftw, but 5.56 isnt a bad caliber. nothing wrong with AR-15's, especially when built into a SBR instead. the AR15 models are interchangeable with so many parts, and that's what makes them so great. You can literally customize it to the T of your liking, maybe not on Insurgency 100% but yea.

Also stop calling it Insurgency 2. just call it insurgency, we aren't retarded.

I feel the same way. There are better solutions to this. You could use a riser, yes, but H&K has foldable iron sights for both their rifles and AR-15 platform guns, making the point of it being integral to the functionality of the gun totally moot. Again they allow the iron sights to be folded flat to account for optics.

I disagree. The standard "American" iron sights on the AR-15 are objectively obstructive. H&K's style of iron sights are two circles that you line up, and it's much clearer and more user friendly.
