Iron sights
I feel like I could use iron sights a lot easier in Ins source. Here, the only weapons I can use irons on are the Mk18, L85, and AK pattern rifles. Everything else I just lose my targets too easily and end up slapping a holo on (which feels wasteful seeing how that supply could go towards a grenade or armor).

The ironsights in Sandstorm are visually smaller than in Ins2, that's my first complaint the first time playing. I would lose my targets after a few shots if they're from afar and moving.

I always dont use optics in Ins2 because it obstruct my overall peripheral vision at any range. The iron sights in Ins2 were larger and have more view space within the sights and more importantly have better peripheral view.

I still use ironsights in Sandstorm because having better peripheral vision is still important to me and I don't see the point using 1x optics unless I need a better view of targets at mid range in open maps.

Unless it's a Galil. I need a better sights for that.

I prefer iron sights 100% of the time unless I'm intentionally staying back to provide cover from range. A: I think the 1x and 2x optics are ugly, and B: they cost points so there's no benefit from anything under a 2x, and even that's a stretch if you're not mostly blind.

Oh the m4 and m16 the flip up sights are decent. The iron sights are garbage tho.

I'm only fine with open-type ironsights, they work OK in this game. But they are minority, and due to total lack of DoF effect for ironsights, l can't use any aperture-type ironsights because they're extremely obstructive - I can't even see the target half the time, geez. In real life I have no problems with using aperture irons, the solid thick ring becomes a fuzzy transparent ring due to natural DoF, making it easy to follow the target as well to center the front ironsight post. And the same happens with open-type irons, except it doesn't improves visibility at all and makes it harder to center the front post in the now-fuzzy notch of the rear post. So in this game I have to use some sort of optics because I can't use the damn sights, whereas in real life it's much more comfortable and natural to use the ironsights as opposed to using the optics - contrary to popular belief! [The lack of] this simple effect flips the entire aiming experience on its head.

On that note, PLS add the SeeAll hybrid ironsight.

The iron sights on pistols are dreadful, that’s why we need an option to add optics on the pistols

M16/M4 carry handle sights, G36 sights are pretty damn good actually. Sticking an optic on your M16/M4 is somewhat negated by the presence of the front sight.

Ironsights on pistols are just about as low-profile as you'll get.

I respectfully disagree. I once tried putting optics on my pistol and it's one purchase I really regret, because it's worthless. You really just have to try it, it's terrible. The only way you can be comfortable with pustol optics is if you're already good enough not to use any sights at all.

I’m talking about in the game, of course I wouldn’t get an optic for a pistol irl lol, the aiming with the pistols in this game is jus dreadful.

The ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ handle sights on the m16 and m4 give me tunnel vision so bad, i have to have at least the flip up sights on them.

Do this. Force yourself to use ironsights for a short while in co-op. Then see if you're starting to get used to them or not.

I started doing that in the last game and I kick ass with carry handle sights. I never use more than 1x magnification though.

Ok maybe I’ll try that next time I play, sounds like a good idea.

Yeah I usually never use anything more then 1x because everything else really limits your vision. I see way too many games where the last one left on my team has a 4x sight on his sniper and every time they see an enemy they zoom in on them, and then it takes them forever to find them again while being shot at!
