The inability to shoot while in a "Restricted Area" is absolutely ridiculous and needs to be changed.
Seriously, why? It makes no sense. Give us a timer or something, don't take away the ability to get out without being killed.

Agreed, it´s unfair and a stupid mechanic.

You have a three second timer (at least I think it’s three seconds) and then you can’t shoot (rather than just dying)

Well if you can both move and shoot freely within a restricted area, what exactly would be restricted about it?

The zones are clearly marked on the map (as requested) and you get a warning on screen when you enter, with a timer before you cannot shoot. If you keep going, that's on you.

It doesn't need to be changed. Maybe the exact specifications of the area need to be changed, but having certain areas restricted to each team makes sense for this game.

It prevents spawn camping... isnt that obvious?? Also the restricted areas in this game don't restrict your movement whatsoever and like a previous person just pointed out there is a tiny window of time where you can fire while in a restricted area.. the restricted areas are along the outskirts of the map and/or near the enemies spawn point and have been a thing since at least the previous Insurgency, they serve a clear purpose and don't need to be changed just because some people don't want to learn the maps.. theirs only like 3 of em in this :shit: game.

I think you should still be able to use your knife and operate door handles/kick down doors in the restricted area.

Buy previous Insurgency, go to NADES server and see for yourself what it looks like when Restricted area allows you to shoot (resp. is not there).

It is amazing server, but amount of spawnkill can be ridiculous at times.

I have yet to have a problem with this. Just be aware of where you're running; even when I occasionally run out of the area I never find myself in a firefight.

Well thats not even close to accurate. If you stay in a cap point after its been captured it turns into a restricted area in Push, a game mode where the defenders spawn is maybe 50 meters from the capture point. This is an issue. Its not about spawn killing, and even if it is, it isn't a good solution for it considering its still a prevalent issue since the attackers can shoot into the defenders spawn from the capture point half the time.

The zones still don't add up though.
It was as if a new layer was added.

In a map editor that is. To make zones.
Because the zones don't fit the map.

First there was only restricted zones.
Then there came map markers for them.

Then the zones bugged out completely.
They didn't follow the map mark rules.

People spawned and played restricted.
Couldn't lift the gun even, whole game.

As if a new layer had been added.
Not an originally intended layer.

Then the bug was fixed.
The map should be true.

It's still so, there's many zones.
You'll find them suddenly.

And lose them just as quick.
As if a layer had missed a step.

Crossing has the worst one.
At least arguably so it does.

Tread more than carefully.
The gas station hides secrets.

Secrets that are not marked on maps.
Secrets that force you to not shoot back.

There is a timer....and if people would stop trying to abuse restricted areas by running into or trying to run through them; they wouldnt see the restricted area as an issue.
So in short class.....stay away from restricted zones and not being able to shoot in them will no longer matter.

The working as intended zones are, as you describe them, working as intended.
However, there are zones and sometimes "spots" where they don't work at all.
They can even be on the straight route to the objective, because reasons unknown.
But there are more than one type of these zones. I'm guessing 2 or 3 different ones.

First one gives a timer and seems to work, it's been here since the first day.
It's been resized and worked with from patch to patch from what I've experienced.
Yet at least one zone seem to be added after the spawn killing issues started.
I did not even come in contact with this type of zone before the 1.1.2 patch.

This was when people started getting the out of bounds bug for the whole game.
After this was supposedly fixed, and the zones marked clearly on the maps.
It's not well and truly fixed, but it works mostly with this layer zone type.
Try going from the spawn after C towards D on crossing checkpoint security.

You'll find two of these zones not marked on the map, the instant lock zones.
Left side of the wall that's on the left side of the road, good view distance.
So enemies can shoot you going towards D from 100+, you can't shoot back.
They're not marked on the map, they're far from "out of bounds" but they're there.

Im glad someone actually made a disscusssion the maps are so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ small u constantly encounter it to annoying as hell
El Kapro May 14, 2019 @ 3:33am
Well, you guys would probably understand importance of restricted areas only if they were removed, and your whole team was killed by IED instantly after spawn.

There is a very good reason for them, but I agree that they are bit too restrictive for attackers on some points and they are still incorrectly shown on map.
