The zones are clearly marked on the map (as requested) and you get a warning on screen when you enter, with a timer before you cannot shoot. If you keep going, that's on you.
It is amazing server, but amount of spawnkill can be ridiculous at times.
Well thats not even close to accurate. If you stay in a cap point after its been captured it turns into a restricted area in Push, a game mode where the defenders spawn is maybe 50 meters from the capture point. This is an issue. Its not about spawn killing, and even if it is, it isn't a good solution for it considering its still a prevalent issue since the attackers can shoot into the defenders spawn from the capture point half the time.
It was as if a new layer was added.
In a map editor that is. To make zones.
Because the zones don't fit the map.
First there was only restricted zones.
Then there came map markers for them.
Then the zones bugged out completely.
They didn't follow the map mark rules.
People spawned and played restricted.
Couldn't lift the gun even, whole game.
As if a new layer had been added.
Not an originally intended layer.
Then the bug was fixed.
The map should be true.
It's still so, there's many zones.
You'll find them suddenly.
And lose them just as quick.
As if a layer had missed a step.
Crossing has the worst one.
At least arguably so it does.
Tread more than carefully.
The gas station hides secrets.
Secrets that are not marked on maps.
Secrets that force you to not shoot back.
There is a timer....and if people would stop trying to abuse restricted areas by running into or trying to run through them; they wouldnt see the restricted area as an issue.
So in short class.....stay away from restricted zones and not being able to shoot in them will no longer matter.
The working as intended zones are, as you describe them, working as intended.
However, there are zones and sometimes "spots" where they don't work at all.
They can even be on the straight route to the objective, because reasons unknown.
But there are more than one type of these zones. I'm guessing 2 or 3 different ones.
First one gives a timer and seems to work, it's been here since the first day.
It's been resized and worked with from patch to patch from what I've experienced.
Yet at least one zone seem to be added after the spawn killing issues started.
I did not even come in contact with this type of zone before the 1.1.2 patch.
This was when people started getting the out of bounds bug for the whole game.
After this was supposedly fixed, and the zones marked clearly on the maps.
It's not well and truly fixed, but it works mostly with this layer zone type.
Try going from the spawn after C towards D on crossing checkpoint security.
You'll find two of these zones not marked on the map, the instant lock zones.
Left side of the wall that's on the left side of the road, good view distance.
So enemies can shoot you going towards D from 100+, you can't shoot back.
They're not marked on the map, they're far from "out of bounds" but they're there.
There is a very good reason for them, but I agree that they are bit too restrictive for attackers on some points and they are still incorrectly shown on map.
