The great quest of making a craptop run Sandstorm
Recently, I moved to study and took my craptop with me, leaving my PC to dust and wait for my comeback.... but, a man has to play something and appart from the fact that this ♥♥♥♥ can't even run Minecraft properly, I'm kinda stuck.

I managed to get DOI and INS2 working, *LowSpecGamer style but I'm struggling to do the same with Sandstorm. Pretty much, I can only play Precinct at shuttery and managable 30 fps, even played a bunch of legit good matches..:

But, despite what has been said, any other map lags me to unplayable hell.

So, help out a fellow to get this piece of ♥♥♥♥, running on even a bigger piece of ♥♥♥♥, so I can enjoy myself a good match or two of Sandstorm:

**Craptop specs:
Intel Core i5-3230M CPU 2.60 GHz
8 GB RAM
Intel HD Graphics 4000 (intergrated GPU)
NVIDIA GeForce GT 730M (extra GPU)

*Huge thanks to LowSpecGamer's videos and SHOUBI for guidance in getting INS2 and DOI to work!
**Craptops may wary, mine compared to others might be good, but lets be real, is quite crappy at this point. Even my PC is old by the standarts.

ALL HELP IS WELCOME!

Try pasting this in your engine.ini, i get around 40-50 fps with a 940mx and a i7-7500u with 16gb of ram on low settings.

It should be in C:\Users\*your user*\AppData\Local\Insurgency\Saved\Config\WindowsClient.
Let me know if the config helps :)

EDIT: nvm lol

It did add up several FPS, thoguh, there's not that big of a notable change.
Though, combining it with resolution radio being at 75%, it does make the game run 40-35 fps, thoguh, at Precinct only, other maps still hit fps hard.

What's your game resolution? Other than lowering that and trying some undervolting/overclocking I don't think you can do much more, unreal engine 4 seems to hate low spec machines

Tried doing diffrent rez, didn't go well, as for aspect ratio, didn't find the option for that.

Trying 1280x720 would definetly boost your fps with your gpu. Btw the aspect ratio is tied to the resolution so you need to select the proper one for your desired ratio

So for, this has been most impactful, I can run other maps at stable 30 fps (no drops below it), as well as, the fps even seem to rise up to 45 fps at times.

Only issue is ofc the small screen, which means I need to get close to the screen, which means I really can't use a seperate keyboard, which better than the laptop's one.

Either way, thanks, so far so good!

No problem, glad to help :)

EDIT: Maybe upping your fov could help with your screen issue but it could also hurt your fps a little

That's funny, Precinct runs like ♥♥♥♥ to me, while most other maps are perfectly playable.

One of the "most bestest" optimized maps is the biggest one - Outskirts, so...

Well to me, best optimised is Precinct, followed up by market, outskirts.... the rest are pretty much the same, except for farmhouse, ministry and refinery, which all run worse

Edit: nvm, outskirts runs like ♥♥♥♥
