There are many different types of Russian uniforms and protective equipment. Can you be a bit more specific?

In fact, there already is the most modern Russian camoflague in this game called Flora. But he is right about protective equipment.

along with the equipment I would think an AK-12 would go good assuming we're talking about security here

They already have Track Jackets and Tracks pants don't they?

Having the option to wear a Gorka uniform with a proper russian LBE, K6-3 helmet and proper AKs, not just old AK74s but the AK-74M and other variants like the AK-100 series of rifles.

But then I look at the game in the state it's in and the lack of players and realize there are more important things they should have on their plate.

True, but a graphic artist is not fixing any bugs and can spend his time working on new items and uniforms, I assume they already work on new stuff already anyway as they always added something new so far.

K6-3 is only used in raids on buildings or other encounters that are expected to have close engagements. A 6b47/27 would do well as the PASGT replacement or a kiver helmet as the high cut.
The gorka has been retired for a while and the surplus is used for training etc. So a desert flora would do better.
We could try get a more modern AKM because lots of Military/Police in russia use heavily modified ones with rail mounts and railed handguards for optics and attachments.
The LBE stuff is true. Maybe something like Defenders, 6b23/45 etc
The 100 family of AKs is primarily use as a replacement to the AKSU

Anyway, The "Alpha AK" for Insurgents' advisor is based on AK-104 carbine with Russian custom parts & is also made in USA according to the markings on the receiver.

Which is great as 98% of this game is about CQB and kicking in doors and clearing rooms!

Where do you take these information from? The gorka is sill in " circulation " within the Russian military and still used, so are 40-50 years old uniform parts. It is the Russian military they use whatever works although they do so in rather small numbers.

Also, why does it matter? This game is about PMCs vs Insurgents, PMCs wear a hell a lot of " retired " uniform parts as it is cheap to get on the market, so it would fit the game very well.

Desert flora on the other hand is actively used and usually not used by PMCs around the world as it would cause confusion.

is that so?
When I visited countries like Russia and Ukraine, I almost exclusively saw Police and Military using the AKsu-74 when guarding public places, this includes special forces I have seen in public. The AKM nor modernized versions of it are used by the Russian Police anymore.

I wonder where you collected all these wrong data. No offense.

would fit the insurgents better but then you run into identification issues

still is cool though
