player abandons game, but not safe to leave?

this game was extremely one sided and i wasn't really having fun either, 22min into game we were pushing rax, 22:05 enemy axe disconnected and abandoned, at ~22:15 i disconnected the game myself.

however, now i look back at my match history and see that i got an abandon myself (it says ABANDON not loss), DESPITE me disconnecting after enemy axe abandoned the game, this is the first time in some 3 years of dota 2 that i have seen a game NOT be safe to leave after someone abandons, can someone explain? anybody have experience? maybe a bug?

if anything, when it's a stomp game and i'm disconnecting from the team that is /ahead/, so it is once again 4v4, am i not doing all players a "favor"? seeing that it was evened out as 4v4 after i left.(?)

it also says in the scoreboard of the match replay that the waith king (who left at some ~24:30 or so) also got abandon, so it wasn't just because i left in a hurry.

25:40 or so, scoreboard in replay says the rubick also abandoned when he left, which means that all in all 4 people potentially got an abandon all in all, 3 after axe abandoned initially.

It is never safe to leave in ranked matches.

the game never said safe to leave, which i will admit, is something i overlooked. BUT, in my 3+ years of playing dota 2 i've NEVER seen someone abandon a game, and it not being safe to leave. it is worth noting that 2 other players besides me also fell victim to this.

it was not a ranked game, i never really play those. Wether or not the main manu said "game is safe to leave", i do not know. Nobody talked in the match in all chat about it.

someone pulled up the dotabuff for the match and you can indeed see that 4 people abandoned in total, the original one being Axe. it also states that it is indeed normal matchmaking.

i'm not sure if this is a bug that valve needs to know of, maybe a rare exception, but it has to be. i've never seen something like this myself.

for the record i *did* get a abandon on my account for this game.

It is probable that WHEN this happens, the alleged abandoner leaves then comes back, but had not officially abandoned. Some people troll that kind of stuff. They leave and hope someone else will leave right behind them, then comback and wait for that person to abandon then leave themselves, thus avoiding an abandonment.

But yeah, never seen the "safe to leave" actually be not safe.

there's no question about wether or not the initial player that abandoned, actually abandoned, he DID abandon. the question is why 3 other people got abandon after leaving aswell, and why the game was never safe to leave. see https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/1458295035

its like written notification there that someone has abandoned game leaving game wont consider you as abandon mmr goes but not abandon!
