From what I've read on the dota 2 wiki page, The Goblin Techies seem pretty interesting. More of a suicide hero, but they have the potential of huge dps.

look i think techies is the only hero you can play wile smoking drinking or even eating dinner
also its a hero that can you play in a pro leauge with 1 hand :D yes 1 hand

and again its a hero that can both a pro and a noob use at the same lvl YES at the same lvl

even tho you cant farm or you cant understand gank or w/e but you still understand this how to but Mines and bombs and blow them up wen someone walks by :)

also hes the only hero that can defend aginst 5 ppl with no items at all just spells .. YAH SPELLS!!

and again hes a fun and no other game has techies not lol not hon and not even Heros of the storm :D

and agian hes an anit carry no matter how the carry gets techies always can kill with out dying :D

The biggest thing is everyone always says Wards > Techies...Well what happens when Techs counter wards? Did everyone forget about his 8 second stun wards? Landmines that still dealt damage upon destruction? His major amount of area denial?

Hell I'd be willing to bet maybe less then 5% of the people who visit this board even played techs back in the day. Long before the Diffusal blade and Manta style went their seperate ways, when Aghams took a Mystic staff and a soul booster, and any lane could solo instead of just middle.

Edit: Hell I'd be surprised if anyone even knows who the Gambler was.

Supposedly it's because they are a "unique" hero, whatever that means in the game with heroes like Invoker, Brood, Riki, etc.

Some players also think that based on their experiences in DotA AllStars, that Techies will be some PuB-killing uber-god hero that will allow them to win every game. Just how they are balanced remains to be seen.

Mostly I think players just want them because they can't have them yet. They'll be in 90% of games the first week they are out, and then go back to used about the same as any other hero.

Why you say? Imagine if Pudge or Invoker or Mirana still not ported?

Most people don't play Goblin Techies to try and actually WIN the game but mostly is to troll around.

That....doesn't seem like a very good hero then. Maybe part of the wait is that they are partially or totally redesigning the hero. The abilities on the "unrealeased content" page in the wiki- is that stuff that has been confirmed as how they are going to perform this time around, or is it just the leftovers of how they operated in DotA 1?

but, like other supposed pubstomp or noob heroes, i'll enjoy seeing them in pro matches...

It is a pretty good hero if you know what you're doing. I don't really know if it is partially or totally being redesigned but I love the original design and wouldn't mind seeing a new one. Perhaps they are reworking its abilities based on the patches we recently had so the skills from the Techies we'll be getting might be different than the ones we had during WC3 DotA.
